EDITORIAL STYLING
6 Celadon & Celery // Editorial Styling
Each venue has its own personality, and our first step is always pinpointing the unique intricacies of each location. The creativity and collaboration that goes into the production
of events of every scale excites us. We put care into coordinating everything including vendors, venues, design aesthetics, details and all other aspects that are needed to make
your event perfect. Whether it is East coast, West coast or abroad, when styling photo shoots or locations, the architectural details provide inspiration. We combine items native to the property with props from our creative craft dealers to complement your personalities
and any venue. Our vision is to recreate the space with truly authentic pieces, pushing beyond flowers, fabrics and decor to construct elaborate presentations that are reflective and
representative of the time, occasion and season.

WEARABLE ART
14 Celadon & Celery // Editorial Styling
A 30-yard splash of pink tulle spilling down the side of a desert cavern. Fists full of flying pigment. A nod to the great Jackson Pollock. (It takes only the mention of the name to stir up image after image of color streaks and explosive art.) Captivated by the idea of wearable art and shot against an arid desert landscape, Laura Grier with Beautiful Day Photography and a team of creative talents drove, hiked, and clawed their way into the wilderness to get these color-saturated images juxtaposed against the raw, barren landscape of the Arizona desert.

HUNTINGTON GARDENS
30 Celadon & Celery // Weddings
Is there anything more hypnotic than the mystery and romance of a tangerine-soaked sunset in Istanbul? Inspired by Byzantine and Ottoman architecture, we built a pergola with reclaimed wood beams and filled it with clusters of pink dahlias, peonies and lilacs. Flowing fabrics, blues, rose golds, and ivory patterns all called to mind sweeping views of the Bosphorous River under the shade of the blooming Judas trees. A little Turkish haven recreated here for a photo-shoot with Revelry Designs.

40 Celadon & Celery // Floral Crowns
Bess Wyrick, floral stylist and owner of Celadon and Celery, recently collaborated with Jeff Koons to create a

LIFE WITH BESS
46 Celadon & Celery // Life With Bess
Life With Bess. Statements from an original life. Walk with me. Look through my lens at life from LA to NYC, at journeys to exotic lands, my designs, and that which I love.

How to Host a Garden Party1. Decide on a color scheme and stick to it. This will ensure that your overall design is cohesive. We kept everything in shades of blues and white.2. A great way to brighten up any space is with fresh flowers. There are times when I like to create a really uniform look, using only a couple different varieties of flowers in a single shade. We only used bougainvillea that was growing in my garden.3. A cute, inexpensive way to make your guests feel super special is to hand out colored wine goblets so it instantly feels like you are at a party.4. Use soft colored dishes so that the design elements and overall color scheme can take center stage. We also added these gorgeous chargers to add depth to the tables. The pattern was the perfect texture to add to the desired aesthetic.5. A fun way to dress up napkins is with fresh cut leaves that have a bit of a variation on them. These leaves are always a big hit, but I also like to use leftover petals or even herb twigs.

I have been wanting to write about this Trend for quite some time. In the event world Tents and Tee Pee are nothing new. We see them at festivals, we rig them for work spaces and now the trend is blending into our homes and yards. Personally I love them and can not get enough of them.
What do you think of them? Have you noticed too a certain Native American trend on the rise, both in fashion and interior with loads of arrows, feathers and teepees? I know in fashion, there have been issues raised about whether or not showing a model wearing a headdress is culturally appropriate. How about for interiors though? Do you think a teepee is appropriate? We made this last month in Brooklyn for a shoot we did with our girl Kelly from the glamourai, in Rent Patina studios.
The garland is made with seeded eucalypsys, peonies, david austin garden roses and umbrella ferns.

PUBLIC SPEAKING
50 Celadon & Celery // Public Speaking
Speaking in front of an audience is not a profession, although many people including my mentor would disagree with me. To me it’s an activity. It’s a way to communicate your passion about a subject upon which you’re an expert. I believe this to be true because the passion has to come first! I begin most of my presentations with a simple quote:
“Passion will give you an endless amount of energy! Let me show you mine.”
I was approached back in 2009 to do a TV show in LA called The Arrangement. I went through all the hoops, the complete cycle and they decided to fly me out to LA to begin filming. I was so excited! I was going to be on TV!…or so I thought. The producer came to me and said, “we can’t insure you enough to get you on the show. We are really sorry for wasting your time.” Huh? What does that even mean? I was so confused.
…fast-forward 5 years…
I realize now that the reason people will hire you to speak and pay money, is because you have something unique to say. One has to have something absolutely fascinating to say; something that no one else can say quite the way you can. It is this fascination that propels audiences to do something different as a result. So maybe that was the case in 2009. I did not have enough to say in my industry to captivate the audience.
I have learned I need to begin my presentations with the idea, the craft, the expertise, but most of all, the PASSION. I write my own speeches and give my talks for free. It’s not about the money. I want to “create” my community and build a platform of fans and fellow believers. I know now that I have a voice, a story, and the experience that will help motivate, challenge, ignite, and remind my audience that PASSION is a gift and we have to learn to channel it sometimes.
