ALFONSO´S XIIITH KINGDOM
En los primeros años del siglo XX, reinaba en
España Alfonso XIII
In the first years of 20th Century, Alfonso XIIIth
was Spain´s King.
LA SEGUNDA REPÚBLICASECOND REPUBLIC
Tras las elecciones de 1931 se instauró la
Segunda República y el Rey abandonó el país.
The Second Republic began in 1931 after the departure of Alfonso XIII
GUERRA CIVIL ESPAÑOLASPANISH CIVIL WAR
La Guerra Civil se inició en 1936, cuando algunos militares se
rebelaron contra el Gobierno de la República, llegando a su fin en
1939.
The Spanish Civil War, wich began in 1936, was fought
between a big majority of the military, who revolt against the existing elected govermment.
It ended in 1939.
DICTADURA MILITAR
Al terminar la Guerra, tuvo lugar una
dictadura militar bajo el mando del General
Franco hasta 1975 sin democracia ni libertad
de expresión.
General Franco’s victory marked the beginning of a forty-year dictatorship without democracy and freedom of speech and
expression.
JUAN CARLOS I
En 1975 Juan Carlos I fue nombrado rey de España y empezaron una serie de reformas
para instaurar la democracia
Juan Carlos I was proclaimed King of Spain in 1975 and
democratic changes took place.
LA CONSTITUCIÓN
En 1978, los españoles aprobaron la actual
constitución que garantiza nuestros
derechos y libertades y reconoce la democracia
como sistema de gobierno.
In the 1978 referendum, a new constitution was
approved. This meant a transition to becoming a constitutional monarchy
and democracy.
ESPAÑA EN LA UE
En 1986 España entró a formar parte de lo que ahora se llama Unión Europea.
Spain joined the European Union
in 1986.
2002: UNA MONEDA PARA TODOS: €
EN 2002 se empezó a usar el
Euro €, como muchos países de
la Unión.
Spain changed to the Euro in 2002.

AVANCES TECNOLÓGICOS EN EL CAMPO
La maquinaria, los abonos han hecho que aumentara la
cantidad de alimentos disponibles.
The food production has increased due to the
equipments and fertilizers.
MEJORA EN LA SANIDAD
En España la sanidad es pública y gratuita
habiendo aumentado la esperanza de vida y
disminuido la mortalidad infantil.
The Spanish National Health System provided
everyone with free medical attention and
hospitalization. Life expectancy has
increased and reduce the infant mortality.
MEJORAS EN COMUNICACIONES
Han habido importantes
avances para mejorar las
carreteras y los transportes.
Transport and roads have been improved.
EL TURISMO TOURISM
El turismo es una importante fuente de ingresos en España
Tourism in Spain today is a major contributor
to the national economic life.
DE LOS PUEBLOS A LAS GRANDES CIUDADES
Han crecido las ciudades y hay menos personas
que viven en los pueblos.
The population of Spanish’s cities has
increased.
1992: EXPOSICIÓN UNIVERSAL EN SEVILLA Y JJOO DE BARCELONA
Entre otros, dos acontecimientos han sobresalido a nivel
mundial, la Exposición Universal de Sevilla y
los Juegos Olímpicos de verano de Barcelona
Universal Exhibition in Seville and the Summer Olympic Games in 1992.
ALGUNOS ARTISTASFEW ARTISTS
En pintura destacaron Pablo Picasso
(cubismo) y Salvador Dalí (surrealismo)
Cabe destacar también al Premio Nobel de Literatura Camilo José Cela.

The Nobel Prize in Literature was awared to Camilo Jose Cela.
CRISIS ECONÓMICAECONOMIC CRISIS
En 2007 se inicia una crisis económica
provocando un aumento del paro y
recortes en los servicios públicos.
The Global Financial Crisis of 2007 has
sharply increased in unemployment and
cut off social services.
