Mixing
Always mix cement and fine sand (zone 3) in the ratio of 1:1 bywt. Fresh OPC should be used for best results.
For best results we recommend mechanical mixing. A freefall concrete mixer can be used for large volume mixing (50kgcement and above). For smaller volume, a drilling machinefitted with a paddle can be used.
If hand mixing becomes inevitable, a large fabricated tray canbe used for mixing to prevent debris contaminating the groutand to avoid loss of grout flowing out of control.
To ensure uniform dispersion of the additive, cement, sand,Cebex FCC422 should be mixed thoroughly in dry conditionand then with precisely measured quantity of water. Water tocement ratio can be 0.4 to 0.44, depending on the type ofcement, sand and workability required.
Free fall concrete mixer
Place about 80% of the required water in the drum :
(a) While the mixer is running cement, sand and CebexFCC422 dry mix should be added. After all the powder isadded, the balance 20% water be added and mixed for atleast5 minutes. OR (b)Cement, sand should be added to the mixer.

Mortar Plasticiser
Uses
To improve workability and trowelling properties of sand/cement mortar mixes during application. To increase qualityof masonry and plastering.
Advantages
Improved moisture retention and bond strength: Slowsdown drying out of mortar which remains workable longer.Ensures better bond to all surfaces, including ceiling.
Makes mortar crack resistant : Minimises drying shrinkagecracks and increases frost resistance in cold climates.
High workability : Even with harsh sands, makes creamyeasy-to-apply mortar.
Cost saving : Increase yield of the same quantity of sand/cement. Extra coverage normally exceeds material costs.
Better & safer masonry : Mortar fills joints easily andefficiently and ensures stronger construction.
Improved appearance : Mortar cuts cleanly from faces ofbrick, block or stone work.
Increased productivity : Speeds up work by easy applicationof mortar.
Description
Cebex 112 is supplied as an off-white to pale yellow liquidwhich mixes readily with water in any proportions. It is basedon internationally recognised chemicals and is free fromcalcium chloride and similar salts.
Technical support
Fosroc offers technical support service to specifiers, endusers and contractors, as well as on-site technical assistancein locations all over the country.
Properties
Specific gravity: 1.005 to 1.015 g/cc
Chloride content : Nil
Compatibility with cements : Can be used with any type ofPortland, Super Sulphate, Blast furnace or Pozzolaniccements.
Setting time : There is no significant effect on the setting ofsand/cement mortars.
Plasticising action : Cebex 112 entrains a controlled amountof microscopic air bubbles which increase cohesion andprovide lubrication to the sane particles in the mix, therebyimparting improved workability to the mortar. The air bubbleshold the cement/water matrix at the contact surfaces whichresults in improved bond strengths.
Frost resistance : Where this is a consideration, that airentrainment appreciably increases the frost resistance of thefully cured mortar and also improves that of fresh mortar, asestablished by international practice.
Increased yield : The special action of Cebex 112 causes thecement particles to disperse evenly throughout the mix, whichcombined with its air entrainment property, expands thevolume of the mortar. Increase in yield for the same quantitiesof sand and cement is typically between 8% and 18%,depending upon the coarseness or fineness of the sand used.
With typical mixes of 1:3 and 1:4 cement : sand, the cost ofCebex 112 will normally be recovered and, in most cases, anet cost saving will be obtained, as a result of the increasedyield.
Application instructions
Mixing
Cebex 112 Mortar Plasticiser may be added either direct toan individual mix or to the gauging water, depending uponsite convenience.
Direct to the mix
1. Use between 0.100 and 0.200 litres of Cebex 112 per100kgs of cement. Soft fine sand will require least andharsh sands most. Site trials will best determine thepractical rate of addition in each case and arerecommended.
2. Cebex 112 to be stirred thoroughly before use. Measurethe total required quantity of Cebex 112 and stir into thefirst bucket of the gauging water.
3. After dry mixing the sand/cement in the normal way, add theCebex 112 and start wet mixing.
4. Continue adding plain water and mixing the mortar untilthe required workability is obtained.

2. Use the Cebex 112 to make the mortar in the usual wayand keep adding and mixing until the required workabilityis obtained.
Lime Mixes :
Where a small quantity of hydrated lime is usually added to asand/cement mix to fattiness and plasticity, the lime maynormally be omitted and Cebex 112 used to replace it witheconomic benefits.
Curing : Mortar containing Cebex 112 should be properlycured in accordance with accepted practice and protectedagainst sun and drying winds.
Overdosing : Overdosing of Cebex 112 will result in increasedworkability and air entrainment.
Cleaning : Spillages of Cebex 112 should be removed withwater.
Limitations
Excess dosage of Cebex 112 will result in reduction of thefinal strength of the mortar. An overdose of double therecommended measure of Conplast P509 will result inincreased retardation of the initial set of the concrete. The ifadvantage is taken of the increased workability by reducingwater.

Instructions for use
Preparation
Underplate grouting
The unrestrained surface area of the grout must be kept to aminimum. Generally, the gap between the perimeter formworkand the plate edge should not exceed 75 mm on the pouringside and 25 mm on the opposite side. Formwork on the flanksides should be kept tight to the plate edge. Air pressurerelief holes should be provided to allow venting of any isolatedhigh spots.
Formwork
The formwork should be constructed to be leak proof asConbextra EP10 is a free flow grout. This can be achieved byusing foam rubber strip or mastic sealant beneath theconstructed formwork and between joints.
For free flow grout conditions, it is essential to provide ahydrostatic head of grout. To achieve this a feeding hoppershould be used - please consult your local Fosroc office formore details.
Foundation surface
This must be free from oil, grease, or any loosely adherentmaterial. If the concrete surface is defective or has laitence, itmust be cut back to a sound base. Bolt holes or fixing pocketsmust be blown clean of any dirt or debris.
Base plate
If delay is likely before placing steel base plates, it isrecommended that the underside and edges are coated withNitoprime 25* to prevent rust formation and ensure bondingwith the Conbextra EP10 grout. All metal surfaces should becleaned to a bright finish in accordance with Swedish StandardSA 2½ or equal. Nitoprime 25 can be applied directly ontonewly cleaned steel surfaces even if they are damp.

Mixing
The entire contents of the hardener can should be poured intothe base container and mixed for 2-3 minutes or until uniformcolour is achieved. Once mixed, the material must be usedwithin the specified pot life (see under Properties). After thistime, unused material will have stiffened and should bediscarded.
Note: Immediately prior to placement, all surfaces must bedry.
Placing
Ensure that the grout can be placed within its pot life.Continuous grout flow is essential. Sufficient grout must beavailable prior to starting and the time taken to pour a batchmust be regulated to the time taken to prepare the next one.Pouring should be from one side of the void to eliminate airentrapment. The hydrostatic head must be maintained at alltimes so that a continuous grout front is achieved.
Cleaning
All tools and equipment should be cleaned immediately afteruse with Nitoflor Sol*.
Hot weather working
Whilst the performance of Conbextra EP10 at elevatedtemperatures is assured, application under such conditionscan sometimes be difficult. It is therefore suggested that, fortemperatures above 35ºC, the following guidelines are used:
(i) Store unmixed materials in a cool (preferably temperaturecontrolled) environment, avoiding exposure to directsunlight.
(ii) Keep mixing and placing equipment cool, arrangingshade protection if necessary. It is especially importantto keep cool those surfaces of the equipment which willcome into direct contact with the material itself.
(iii) Try to eliminate application in the middle of the day, andcertainly avoid application in direct sunlight.
(iv) Ensure that there are sufficient operatives available tocomplete application within the material’s pot life.
Limitations
- Grouts should not be placed in any unrestrained situation,i.e. base plate plinths, etc. Failure to comply may lead tocrack development in the grout.

Application instructions
Formwork
The formwork should be constructed to be leak proof asConbextra EP75 is a free flow grout.

Base plate
If delay is likely before placing steel base plates, it isrecommended that the underside and edge are coated withNitoprime 25* to prevent rust formation and ensure bondingwith the Conbextra EP75 grout. All metal surfaces should becleaned to a bright finish in accordance with Swedish StandardSA 2½ or equal. Nitoprime 25 can be applied directly ontonewly cleaned steel surfaces even if they are damp.
Mixing
The entire contents of the hardener can should be poured intothe base container and mixed until homogeneous. Place themixed base and hardener into a suitable forced action mixermaking sure that the entire volume is poured in. Add theaggregate and mix for 2-3 minutes or until uniform colour isachieved. Once mixed, the material must be used within thespecified pot life (see under Properties). After this time, unused material will have stiffened and should be discarded.
Note: Immediately prior to placement, all surfaces must be dry.
Whilst the performance of Conbextra EP75 at elevatedtemperatures is assured, application under such conditionscan sometimes be difficult. It is therefore suggested that, fortemperatures above 35°C, the following guidelines are used:
i Store unmixed materials in a cool (preferably temperaturecontrolled) environment, avoiding exposure to directsunlight.
i i Keep mixing and placing equipment cool, arranging shadeprotection if necessary. It is especially important to keepcool those surfaces of the equipment which will comeinto direct contact with the material itself.
ii i Try to eliminate application in the middle of the day, andcertainly avoid application in direct sunlight.
iv Ensure that there are sufficient operatives available tocomplete application within the material’s pot life.
Limitations
- Grouts should not be placed in any unrestrained situation,i.e. base plate plinths, etc. Failure to comply may lead tocrack development in the grout.

Application instructions
Preparation
Foundation surface
The substrate surface must be free from oil, grease or anyloosely adherent material. If the concrete surface is defectiveor has laitence, it must be cut back to a sound base. Boltholes and fixing pockets must be blown clean of any dirt ordebris.
Pre-soaking
Several hours prior to placing, the concrete substrates shouldbe saturated with clean water.
Immediately before grouting takes place any free water shouldbe removed with particular care being taken to blow out all boltholes and pockets.
Base plate
It is essential that this is clean and free from oil, grease orscale. Air pressure relief holes should be provided to allowventing of any isolated high spots.
Levelling shims
If these are to be removed after the grout has hardened, theyshould be treated with a thin layer of grease.
Formwork
The formwork should be constructed to be leakproof. Thiscan be achieved by using foam rubber strip or mastic sealantbeneath the constructed formwork and between joints.
In some cases it is practical to use a sacrificial semi-drysand and cement formwork. The formwork should includeoutlets for pre-soaking.

For best results a mechanically powered grout mixer shouldbe used. When quantities up to 50kg are used, a slow speeddrill fitted with a high shear mixer is suitable. Larger quantitieswill require a high shear vane mixer. Do not use a colloidalimpeller mixer.
To enable the grouting operation to be carried out continuously,it is essential that sufficient mixing capacity and labour areavailable. The use of a grout holding tank with provision togently agitate the grout may be required.
Consistency of grout mix
The quantity of clean water required to be added to a 25kgbag to achieve the desired consistency is given below:
Flowable : 4.75 litres
The selected water content should be accurately measuredinto the mixer. The total content of the Conbextra GPI grout bagshould be slowly added and continuous mixing should takeplace for 5 minutes. This will ensure that the grout has asmooth even consistency.
Placing
At 30 0C place the grout within 20 minutes of mixing to gainfull benefit of the expansion process.
Conbextra GPI can be placed in thicknesses up to 100mm ina single pour when used as an underplate grout.
For thicker sections it is necessary to fill out Conbextra GPIgrout with well graded silt free aggregate to minimise heatbuild up. Typically a 10mm aggregate is suitable. 50 - 100%aggregate by weight of Conbextra GPI can be added.
Any bolt pockets must be grouted prior to grouting betweenthe substrate and the base plate.
Continuous grout flow is essential. Sufficient grout must beprepared before starting. The time taken to pour a batch mustbe regulated to the time to prepare the next one.
Typical hopper system
Removable hopper : For large pours the grout may be handplaced or pumped into a removable hopper ( trough). Pouringshould be from one side of the void to eliminate any air orpresoaked water becoming trapped under the base plate. It isadvisable to pour the grout across the shortest distance oftravel. The grout head must be maintained at all times so thata continuous grout front is achieved.
Where large volumes have to be placed Conbextra GPI groutmay be pumped. A heavy duty diaphragm pump isrecommended for this purpose. Screw feed and piston pumpsmay also be suitable.
Curing
On completion of the grouting operation, exposed areasshould be thoroughly cured. This should be done by the useof Concure curing membrane, continuous application of waterand/or wet hessian.
Cleaning
Conbextra GPI grout should be removed from tools andequipment with clean water immediately after use. Curedmaterial can be removed mechanically, or with Reebaklens.

Application instructions
Preparation
Foundation surface
The substrate surface must be free from oil, grease or anyloosely adherent material. If the concrete surface is defectiveor has laitence, it must be cut back to a sound base. Bolt holesand fixing pockets must be blown clean of any dirt or debris.
Pre-soaking
Several hours prior to placing, the concrete substrates shouldbe saturated with fresh water.
Immediately before grouting takes place any free water shouldbe removed with particular care being taken to blow out allbolt holes and pockets.
Unrestrained surface area
This must be kept to a minimum. Generally the gap widthbetween the perimeter formwork and the plate edge shouldnot exceed 150mm on the pouring side and 50mm on theopposite side. It is advisable, where practical, to have no gapat the flank sides.

Mixing and placing
Mixing
For best results a mechanically powered grout mixer shouldbe used. When quantities up to 50kg are used, a heavy dutyslow speed drill (400-500 rpm) fitted with a paddle is suitable..Larger quantities will require a heavy duty mixer.
To enable the grouting operation to be carried outcontinuously, it is essential that sufficient mixing capacityand labour are available. The use of a grout holding tankwith provision to gently agitate the grout may be required.
Consistency of grout mix
The quantity of clean water required to be added to a 25kgbag to achieve the desired consistency is given below :
Pourable (@ w/p=0.16) : 4 litres
Flowable (@ w/p=0.17) : 4.25 litres
The selected water content should be accurately measuredinto the mixer. The total content of the Conbextra GP3 bagshould be slowly added and continuous mixing should takeplace for 5 minutes. This will ensure that the grout has asmooth even consistency.
Placing
At 300C place the grout within 20 minutes of mixing to gainfull benefit of the expansion process.
Conbextra GP3 can be placed in thicknesses up to 100mmin a single pour when used as an underplate grout.
For thicker sections it is necessary to fill out Conbextra GP3with well graded silt free aggregate to minimise heat buildup. Typically a 10mm aggregate is suitable. 50 - 100%aggregate weight of Conbextra GP3 can be added.
Any bolt pockets must be grouted prior to grouting betweenthe substrate and the base plate.
Continuous grout flow is essential. Sufficient grout must beprepared before starting. The time taken to pour a batchmust be regulated to the time to prepare the next one.
Typical hopper system
Removable hopper : For large pours the grout may be handplaced or pumped into a removable hopper ( trough)
Pouring should be from one side of the void to eliminate anyair or presoaked water becoming trapped under the baseplate. It is advisable to pour the grout across the shortestdistance of travel. The grout head must be maintained at alltimes so that a continuous grout front is achieved.
Where large volumes have to be placed Conbextra GP3 maybe pumped. A heavy duty diaphragm pump is
recommended for this purpose. Screw feed and pistonpumps may also be suitable.
Curing
On completion of the grouting operation, exposed areasshould be thoroughly cured. This should be done by the useof Concure WB curing membrane, continuous application ofwater and/or wet hessian.
Limitations
Low temperature working
When the air or contact surface temperatures are 100C orbelow on a falling thermometer, warm water ( 30 - 400C) isrecommended to accelerate strength development.
For ambient temperature below 100C the formwork shouldbe kept in place for at least 36 hours.
Normal precautions for winter working with cementitiousmaterials should then be adopted.

Preparation
Foundation surface
The substrate surface must be free from oil, grease or anyloosely adherent material. If the concrete surface is defectiveor has laitence, it must be cut back to a sound base. Boltholes and fixing pockets must be blown clean of any dirt ordebris.
Pre-soaking
Several hours prior to placing, the area of cleaned foundationshould be flooded with fresh water. Immediately beforegrouting takes place, any free water should be removed.Particular care should be taken to blow out all bolt holes andpockets.
Base plate
It is essential that this is clean and free from oil, grease orscale. Air pressure relief holes should be provided to allowventing of any isolated high spots.
Levelling shims
If these are to be removed after the grout has hardened, theyshould be treated with a thin layer of grease.
Formwork
The formwork should be constructed to be leakproof asConbextra HF is a free flowing grout. This can be achievedby using foam rubber strip or mastic sealant beneath theconstructed formwork and between joints.
In some cases it is practical to use a sacrificial semi-drysand and cement formwork. The formwork should includeoutlets for pre-soaking.
The unrestrained surface area of the grout must be kept to aminimum. Generally the gap width between the perimeterformwork and the plate edge should not exceed 150mm onthe pouring side and 50mm on the opposite side. Thereshould be no gap at the flank sides.
Mixing
For best results a mechanically powered grout mixer shouldbe used. When quantities up to 50kg are used, a slow speeddrill fitted with a high shear mixer is suitable. Larger quantitieswill require a high shear vane mixer. Do not use a colloidalimpeller mixer.
It is essential that machine mixing capacity and labouravailability is adequate to enable the grouting operation to becarried out continuously. This may require the use of a holdingtank with provision for gentle agitation to maintain fluidity.
The selected water content should be accurately measuredinto the mixer. Slowly add the total contents of the ConbextraHF bag, mix continuously for 5 minutes, ensuring a smooth, even consistency is obtained.
Consistency of the mixed grout
To achieve the consistencies which are defined in CRD-C621,1989, the amount of clean water that is added to a 25kg bagat 300C is :

Removable hopper : For large pours the grout may be handplaced or pumped into a removable hopper ( trough).
Sufficient grout must be available prior to starting and thetime taken to pour a batch must be regulated to the time takento prepare the next one.
The mixed grout should be poured only from one side of thevoid to eliminate the entrapment of air or surplus presoakingwater. This is best achieved by pouring the grout across theshortest distance of travel. The grout head must bemaintained at all times so that a continuous grout flow isachieved.Where large volumes hve to be placed ConbextraHF grout may be pumped. Supplier specification
All underwater grouting (specify details and areas ofapplication) must be carried out using Conbextra UWmanufactured by Fosroc Chemicals (I) Pvt. Ltd, applied strictlyin accordance with the manufacturer's technical data sheet.
Application instructions
Preparation
Substrate must be clean and sound. All loose material mustbe removed. Substrates which are permanently immersedshould be sand blasted or cleaned with a high pressure waterjet. Non-immersed or intermittently immersed substrates canalso be prepared using these techniques. Depending on thecircumstances, scabbling or bush hammering may beappropriate.
Inview of the fluid nature of Conbextra UW, all shuttering mustbe leakproof. This can be achieved using foam rubber sealingstrips at the edges.
Mixing
The quantity of water required to achieve a fluid consistencymust be accurately measured for each mix. Each 25 kg bagrequires 5.5 litres of water.
A mechanically powered mixer must be used. Ensure that themachine capacity and the number of operatives is adequateto enable grouting to be carried out as a continuous operation.
Place the specified amount of water in the mixer. Slowly addthe contents of Conbextra UW pack, mixing continuously. When all contents are added, mix continuously for a minimumof 5 minutes making sure that a smooth, even mix is obtained.(Fluidity increases with increased mixing). Pass the mixedmaterial through a 5mm sieve to remove any lumps prior toplacing.
Important : The need to observe the accurate gauging ofwater addition and the stated mixing time should be stressedto all operatives and, wherever possible, included inspecifications.
Placing
Place the mixed material within 20 minutes of mixing to gainfull benefit of the expansion process. Continuous materialflow is required and the material should be poured or pumpedthrough a flexible tube, minimum diameter 50mm, to thelowest point in the form. At the start of the operation, thematerial flow should be restricted in order to avoid any waterentrapment. The bottom of the tube may be raised asnecessary to reduce any back pressure but should not beraised above the level of the material.
Application thickness
Conbextra UW may be placed in thicknesses upto 80mm inone pour when placed above water. When placed under water, the heat sink effect in this environment permits thicknessesupto 150mm to be placed. For thicker sections upto 200mmabove water and 400mm under water, it is necessary to fillout Conbextra UW using a clean, rounded and well gradedaggregate in the size range 2mm upto 10mm. The quantity ofaggregate added should not exceed 1 part aggregate to 1part Conbextra UW by weight. For such mixes a concretemixer must be used. Unrestrained surface area should bekept to a minimum.
Curing
Curing will not be required in intermittently or totally submergedsituations. However, when cast above water, all exposedsurfaces should be thoroughly cured.
Cleaning
Because of its water resisting properties, equipment usedfor Conbextra UW will be harder to wash than with acementitious grout. Use of hot water greatly reduces the timerequired for cleaning. Do not use hot water for mixing withConbextra UW.

Application instructions
Selection of grout version
The version of Lokfix chosen will depend on anchor conditions( see description)
Parameters of anchor design
The high strength of the cured resin permits strong anchorsto be created. Ultimate strength is determined by :
Strength of host material
Length of resin bond to bar
Hole preparation and formation
Type and dimension of bar
Fig.1 Typical loads attained
Concrete : 20N/mm2 unreinforced
Bar : 25mm dia Deformed rebar to IS:1786

Note : The graph illustrates typical failure loads.
Minimum safety factors of 1.5 in non critical and of 2 in criticalcases should be considered for design purposes. Whereverrelevant, the local code of practice or standard must also beconsidered in relation to anchorage length.
Hole preparation and formation
Optimum performance of Lokfix requires rough sided, dustfree holes. Uses of rotary percussive drills with air or waterflushing is recommended.
Diamond drilled holes should be under-reamed unlessnecessary safety factors are incorporated.
Cast holes should preferably be inverse dovetail configuration. If parallel sides holes are cast they should be rough to provideadequate keying.
Bar preparation
All bars should preferably be degreased and all flaky rustremoved.
page 3 of 4constructive solutions
Lokfix®
Mixing
A complete pack of resin and catalysed filler should be mixedin one operation. Mixing may be carried out mechanically. When a smooth, even consistency is achieved the grout isready for use and should be placed well within the gel time ofthe grout ( See properties).
Packs have been designed to produce practical and economicvolumes of grout.
Do not attempt to mix partial pack components.
Installation
Lokfix polyester resin grout S & L
Using the calculated volume of grout based on Table 1, thegrout should be poured steadily into the prepared holes. Theanchor bar is then pressed into the hole to the required depth.Slight agitation of the bar will assist in achieving a completebond. The bar should then be left undisturbed in the requiredposition until the resin is set.
Lokfix polyester resin grout P
The grout should be injected to the rear of the hole to avoid airentrapment. The thixotropic nature of Lokfix P will preventsignificant flow of resin out of the hole.
Cleaning
Any mixing drums, pumps, etc. should be cleaned within thepot life of of the grout. Nitoflor Sol is available for this purpose.
