Norman Jay: “The setting and the location was just unbelievable... It was my first time but I certainly hope it won’t be my last... It’s got everything going for it, an ab-solutely unbelievable location, the local Croatian people we met were fantastic and the hospitality second to none. With a great smattering of ex-pat festival goers who seem to have decided to all meet here at the same time. I’ve met so many people here I know, instantly it makes me feel at home and welcome. There seems to be a growing trend for small perfectly formed gatherings of people. It’s the right time right place and this will definitely go on to bigger things.. The Garden Festival will definitely be a feature in my diary for the coming years!”

Mr. Scruff: “It’s been lovely, I always come for a week, beautiful people, amazing surroundings, great weather, a killer sound-system, and the local people have been very welcoming... It’s perfect, being on a peninsula surrounded by the sea you really feel that you are on a festival site but you don’t feel enclosed. So if it is a bit full-on you can walk across to the village, lie on the beach, hire a boat or go for a swim... It’s perfect, all the good things about a festival, the inclusiveness and the feeling of belonging without feeling hemmed in...”

festival tips Don’t lose the chance to attend one of the famous boat parties, the place you’ll have a lot of unforgettable moments that will keep you warm for the whole next year.

Yes, that’s right! DJs will be collaborating and playing back to back with each other!

While many DJs have played b2b before, this kind of show has not been done to such a massive scale anywhere before. Each night, DJs from the past 10 years will be playing against each other and will create the big-gest birthday bash known in the history of dance music! Some of the collaborations for Dance Arena may very well surprise and they will surely excite! And above all, it’s going to be one hell of a party!

Renowned for its diverse and adventurous line ups, EXIT encompasses all genres of music from rock to rap, classical to chill, dance to drum & bass and electronic to experimental. Over 600 performances will take place on 25 stages connected by cobbled streets, ramparts and tunnels - a walk through the historical and awe-inspiring fortress is like a trip through a portal, where the modern world unites and celebrates its freedom.

festival tips We can fairly say that EXIT caused the growth of the local artists for the last few years and if you are bored by superstar DJs or you don’t feel excited to see so many times names like Richie Hawtin, Dubfire, etc. go and see the Urban Bug stage or one of the other stages hosted by Serbian and local artists. Last year we found a lot of quality sound in the fortress and we highly recommend you to check it out. They will perform around Main and Dance Arena stages and they will enjoy your care.

preview Summer Break Festival will celebrate its 5th edition in 2009. The festival is located in the Western part of Romania, on the premises of Camping Strei, a beauti-ful open air venue near the river with the same name. The accessibility is very good due to its proximity to E68 and the city of Simeria, an important train station which is linked to any major city in the country.

Skunk Predatorz, Urban Vision NGO and HDM promise to make it again an unforgettable experience as well as to add some special ingredients to the already established recipe for fun. Get ready for an epic three day good music marathon on two stages in a natural setting. An attractive line up will satisfy all musical tastes and balance between worldwide established artists and up and coming talent. We carefully picked for you some of the most exciting and innovative acts, repping the latest flavors in dance music with a special focus on break beats.

The music and the visuals will definitely keep you busy at night while the sun and the water will surely make you forget where you are and lift off any pressure during the day. More than 1500 people joined the summer breakers army last year and we expect extra recruits in 2009.

Summer Break means more than music and to comple-ment that several workshops will take place during the festival. Sporty participants will have the occasion to test their skateboards and other skills in daily competitions on the spot. The festival will also host a documentary film selection screening on Thursday. An anniversary compi-lation with contributions from the artists that blessed our stages will be released in July.

If this was not convincing enough you can also think of an affordable ticket price, free camping in the venue and keep in mind that drinks and food are quite cheap here compared to other countries. In addition, low cost companies like Wizz Air, Blue Air or other operators are already well linked with neighboring airports Timisoara, Cluj Napoca or Sibiu.

festival tips This year the Summer Break Festival starts a brand new project part of the festival, called Aca-demix. We can say it’s a workshop for young artists that will have the chance to have a talk and to exchange ideas and experience with the international DJs and performers in Summer Break. Don’t miss it and find out more about the workshop: http://summerbreak.ro/ro/academix/

Novalja was known as a popular family resort due to its pristine beaches and clean sea, but recently it has been nicknamed “The Croatian Ibiza”. Reason behind that is the beach Zrce, declared as the #1 spot in Croatia, with its numerous clubs popular among Croatian celebrities and affluent youth.

tian club Papaya is the first and favorite choice not only for the locals. After the beginning of Papaya Day & Night Summer Festival last year with more that 20000 visitors, it is clear that the tradition will follow this summer. preview The Summer3p Festival was initiated in 2003 with its primary goal to stir up the youth of Subotica and to offer them different and higher standard entertainment. In the first two years our festival was a single-day event, but the feedback of the audience was extremely positive (people wanted more), so we extended the festival period to 8 days in 2005. That move proved to be very suc-cessful and what started as a one-night party began to transform into a mini - festival. People were entertained by various DJs while having fun in the pool. They were also very active in various art workshops and sport competitions. The campaigns “STOP THE VIOLENCE!” and “PROTECT THE NATURE” were conducted during

the festival. This summer the organizers have made efforts to provide even more interesting and more various types of programme for the visitors. There is around 30 foreign and domestic performers, DJs, live acts. There is also a greater number of creative workshops and exciting side events.

In 2009 the festival is going to last 4 days, under the title “Independent Youth Festival of Electronic Music - Palic”.

festival tips S3P is located at the thermal pools near Lake Palic, which is a famous touristic destination in northern Serbia.

Palic, the 7 km long lake and tourist centre used to be an elite resort and spa at the turn of the 19th and 20th cen-turies. The image of Palic has permanently been chang-ing, improving and modernising, although it avoided the temptation of industrialisation. The two architects, Komor and Jakab, who left a permanent impression on the archi-tecture of the city, also designed remarkable buildings in Palic as well, and these were also built in Hungarian art nouveau and dominated by woodcarvings inspired by folk handicrafts.
