CE Marking of Machines and Machine Assemblies (Conformité Européenne*) CE Marking includes the following requirements: Designing and building for safety Assessing product conformity Demonstrating product compliance Providing users with relevant information Our clients benefit from FEG’s combination of specialist training and experience of designing and installing machinery and production lines across an array of industries. This ensures that they receive a comprehensive but practical assessment of their installations. feg-global.com Clarity through simplicity FEG provide CE Marking for: Individual machines Assemblies of machines as found in production lines All new and second-hand plant and machinery designed, constructed and supplied for use in process and production working environments within the EU must comply with one or more legal requirements when first placed on the market or put into service. This is to ensure that it can be used safely and without harm to operators. Most CE Marking requirements set broad objectives for ensuring the health and safety of the users of the plant and machinery as well as others who may be affected and consumers of ingredients and materials processed on certain types of machinery; such as food, cosmetics and pharmaceutical products. The requirement covers individual plant and equipment as well as complex production lines made up of individual machines and equipment. Physical safety, including health effects of plant and machinery in all its various aspects including selection of materials used in construction, means of control, risks from moving parts, fixed guards, lighting, hazards from electrical equipment, safeguards, noise, vibration, radiation, emission of dust from the equipment, maintenance and documentation are all part of the legal requirement known as essential health and safety requirements (EHSR’s). The principles of safety by design must take into account any foreseeable use and misuse of the equipment. It is also necessary to provide information for end users such as markings, warnings and comprehensive instructions on safe use. * “The CE mark is required for all new products which are subject to one or more of the European product safety Directives. It is a visible sign that the manufacturer of the product is declaring conformity with all of the Directives relating to that product.” Source: HSE
