Applications

Any laboratory, in which tissue culture techniques are performed to

strengthen the propagation capability through production of disease-free

plant material through in vitro techniques, must contain a tissue culture

chamber or room.

CDR's TCU series chambers meet all required specifications for these

demand applications in tissue culturing and genetic experimenting

laboratories. They control temperature, relative humidity and light intensity.

The air circulation throughout the entire culture space ensures minimum

fluctuations.

TCU series chambers come in three standard sizes. The low cost models

with 200 and 300 Ltr internal space and the advanced models with 500

and 1000 Ltr internal space. For larger internal space requirements CDR

is manufacturing tailor made tissue culture rooms.

All products carry CE marks and are covered by a comprehensive

warranty. Since some research projects demand different specifications,

we understand that your chamber's requirements may not fit into our

standard products, so please contact us for specific details and options on

custom orders.Multi level shelves

ConstructiChambers designed for flexibility

CDR's TCU reach-in series chambers are specifically designed with

highly efficient but thin wall polyurethane insulation to minimize the use

of your laboratory space. This high-density (45Kgr/m3), fireproof and

environment friendly insulation (CFC free) ensures low power

consumption. As standard size 500 & 1000 have interior and exterior

walls made of stainless steel (304) and low cost size 200 has walls

made of galvanized steel baked with white baked enamel.

Large size chambers (500 & 1000 Ltr) contains 4 caster assemblies (2

with brakes). Wide door opening provides full and easy access to the

chamber's interior. A magnetic gasket provides a tight seal to door

frame. All models are equipped with an internal glass door that ensures

easy observation without disturbing the internal atmosphere.

To maximize versatility the growth area has multi-tiered shelving units

with adjustable height in 12mm steps. Because CDR emphasizes user

friendliness, every chamber has full front size door opening(s) for easy

access and an internal glass door that allows monitoring of every single

shelf without disturbing internal atmosphere.

Condensation-free culture vessels

Precisely designed and manufactured air plenums are used for uniform

air distribution. The conditioned air that is picked up from a fixed air

opening located at the top of the chamber circulates through a rear duct

and it is diffused by a specially designed plenum at the bottom of the

chamber.

The air that is delivered vertically upward at a slow speed through each

shelf eliminates condensation problems in culture vessels.

Incoming air (fresh air) passes through a HEPA filter and flow can be

manually controlled with a damper.

Refrigeration & optionally humidification systems

Standard models are equipped with <<tropical>> type refrigeration

systems that are designed to operate in ambient temperature up to 46 C.

Refrigeration plans are energy efficient , CFC free, with self contained

refrigeration compressors. All air cooled refrigeration plans include a hot

gas bypass system for high temperature stability and continuous

compressor operation that last long. This guarantees economy, reliability

and quiet operation.

Optionally all models may be equipped with a humidification/

dehumidification system. CDR's humidification systems are based on

reliable centrifugal atomizing humidifiers. Alternatively all chambers may

be equipped with electronic ultrasonic atomizing humidifiers.

Both these humidification systems produce very small water droplets

(>7μm) which evaporate immediately so they are not transferred inside

the working space.

The dehumidification system is always based on an independent

refrigeration system.

NOTE Atomizing humidifiers must be supplied with clean water to the

following specification; pH=7.0 ±0.5, filtration <2 microns (0.00008in) and

resistivity between 0.5 and 1.0 Meg Ohms.

Applications

Any laboratory, in which tissue culture techniques are

performed to strengthen the propagation capability through

production of disease-free plant material through in vitro

techniques, must contain a tissue culture chamber or room.

Walk-in TCU series chambers are an ideal solution for any

production tissue culture laboratory as well as for these

tissue culturing and genetic experimenting laboratories with

an eye to large volume. CDR is manufacturing by request any

size of tissue culture room.

All products carry CE marks and are covered by a comprehensive

warranty. Since some research projects demand different specifications,

we understand that your room's requirements may not fit into our standard

products, so please contact us for specific details and options on custom

orders.

Construction specificationsWalk-in tissue culture chambers are manufactured with GERMAN made

panels that feature an attractive, corrosion resistant enamel finish on

galvanized steel walls, which assure long service life. High density,

fireproof, non CFC polyurethane insulation saves on energy consumption.

Our panels stand out for their three (3) thermal barriers whose side joints can sustain the produced energy and their holhlkammer profile (HKP) which builds into the panel in the form of a longitudinal flange seals the joints airproof and covers the grooves according to the directions of the EU. The Ems-ThyssenKrupp panels are manufactured: according to the specifications of the Berlin Polytechnic University by DIN, German Thyssen steel sheets, Bayer German Polyurethane, offering the largest 15% -20% usable volume space.

The floor is made of specially processed plywood that is water tight in the

connections and the final surface. It is powerful and of high resistance

(2.000 kg/m2), insulating, unaffected by the humidity, do not retain

pollutants and is easily cleaned.

Page 7: CDR ENG Tissue Culture Rooms & Chambers 032015a

The hinged doors are assembled with German materials, accessories and mechanisms and they close hermetically. Their polyurethane (PU) insulation comes from the house of BAYER Germany, with triple insulating ability in contrast to the other insulating materials. Optional features include a double glazed observation window with a built in cover. Door Is locked with a key.

CDR's tissue culture rooms provide modular multi level shelving that

ensure wide mounting surface for tissue culture production.

There are two options concerning shelve’s design. First there are

shelves with lights (LED or fluorescent lamps) on top and shelves

with barriered lights banks that are mounted on the side of chamber’s

walls. Please contact with our engineers for designing a special room

based on your needs.

LED lighting is an advanced way for production because they

consume significantly less energy than the fluorescent lighting, but

also because the substantially lower amount of heat generated by the

LEDs means less cooling is required. This reduces the load on the

energy network, which then allows greater flexibility for witching the

lighting. This in turn results in better control of the growing process.

Any size to suit customer's needs. CDR is equipped with computer-aided design and manufacturing

technology in order to conform to your specific needs. Optionally

CDR offers an on-site service to establish exactly what is needed to

meet customer requirements.

Our modular rooms are manufactured at any dimensions to meet

particular room restrictions or to effectively accommodate any budget.

They are designed for accurate, quick on-site assembly by our

experienced technicians. Please contact our sales department for

information on orders and local support of our products in your

region.

Modular Walk-ins. Every model has walls, ceiling and floor made of German origin

prefab panels with pour-in-place polyurethane. This high-density

(45Kgr/m3), fireproof and environment friendly insulation ensures low

power consumption.

Panel's skins are made of galvanized sheet metal, finished off in

white baked enamel which assures long service life and even light

distribution.

Αll joints are perfectly sealed at both sides by double barreled NSF®

approved gaskets. The added raised surface pattern of the floor

increase traction thus reduces the potential of slip-and-fall accidents,

even in wet conditions.

Ready-Built Walk-ins As an alternative to our modular chambers, factory pre-assembled models are available and ready to be installed. On site. structures arrive at the site typically on a gooseneck truck and, depending on size and customer preference, lifted into place by crane, boom-lift or forklift and they are immediately fully operational.

CDR’s LED lightsSpectra for

all propagation applications

LED lighting for propagation

The growth of a plant is strongly determined by the total number of photons that it absorbs in the PAR region.

Total absorbed energy varies according to:

Day length

Total propagation time requirement is influenced by the photoperiod.

Spectrum

The mix of colors in the light (spectrum) also strongly influences the development of a plant. CDR provides in

cooperation with Philips special LED light recipes for specific applications.

Light uniformity

When using artificial lighting, uniformity and constant quality of the light spectrum is very important for a

constant quality of crop production. Light is an important horticultural production tool and a key factor in plant

research. LEDs (light-emitting diodes) are set to play a major role in horticultural lighting. With LED lighting,

the growth light – spectral output – can be tuned, which makes it possible to apply the optimum 'light recipe'

at every stage of a crop's growth. This capability,

together with effective heat management, long

lifetime, high luminous efficiency and energy

efficiency, opens up tremendous opportunities for

researchers, growers and breeders.

High luminous efficiency

As LEDs produce only a little radiant heat, it is

possible to position the light source close to the

crop without burning the leaves.

LED modules in the controlled environment of a

propagation room allowed better control of the

plant growth cycle, resulting in higher rooting

percentages. Quality is improving drastically with

more uniform and consistent growth, better roots

and stronger plants.

Page 15: CDR ENG Tissue Culture Rooms & Chambers 032015a

Propagation (Tissue culture and seedlings, cuttings & young plants)

When using artificial lighting, uniformity and constant quality of the light spectrum is very important for a constant quality

of crop production. LED lights provide a good alternative light source for propagation purposes due to high luminous

efficiency and maintained uniformity of illumination. The capability to reduce distance between layers is an ideal solution

for CDR's TCU models with light banks mounted on top of every shelf. CDR's TCU series chambers are equipped with one

of the following type of LED lamps.

1. Philips GreenPower TLED (25-100 μmol/m2/s) which offer an extremely effective and efficient alternative in tissue

culture to traditional fluorescent lamps, delivering energy savings up to 70% compared to fluorescent lighting.

GreenPower TLED also improves tissue culture growth parameters, resulting in a higher multiplication factor,

better rooting quality and a

shortening of the total growth

cycle. On top of energy savings

these parameters brings more

profit! To improve growth

performance dedicated recipes

are needed. GreenPower TLED is

available in six different versions.

2. Philips GreenPower LED string is

used in tissue culture of Low

light intensity (5-30 μmol/m2/s)

and in seedling storage. This LED

light string is a good solution for

long tissue-culture shelves. Red,

blue, far-red, and white strings are available. Due to little radiant heat, it is possible to position the light source

close to the culture without burning tissues. Even with shelf heights of up to 25 cm, the light distribution on the

optical surface is guaranteed to be even.

3. Our regular multi color LED modules which incorporate groups of white, blue, red in equal color ration (1/3 each).

These modules are manufactured to be used with

different plant species in order to provide healthy

growth along with better energy efficiency.

Maximum light output is controlled from our

programmable control system (CMP3 system)

which is capable for full dimming control (0-100%)

individually for every LED group. Those way

customers may adjust precisely the light spectrum

& irradiance according to their application-plant's

need.
