The text is has an Aztec feel to it and it is quite blunt.

The background is plain – thus drawing all the attention towards the artist.

The use of props is inevitable. Lots of ‘homemade’ brightly colored props are used. This re-enforces the theme of the album.

The two most important things are those in the bright colours. The artist, and the artist name.

The artist appears to be naked. Again this draws all the attention to her face.

The shot is taken from a side-profile with the artist appearing to be looking at something.

There is a distinct colour scheme which consists of blue, yellow and red. The colour yellow signifies happiness while the colour red signifies danger. This could be a clue to what the songs may be like on the album.

The album name is the only thing white in this cover. This could emphasise its importance.

The font and colour of the album show that the genre of the album would most likely to be pop.

The genre looks like it will be a folk album.

Information overload – lots of bright different colours.

Obvious colour scheme – red, yellow, orange, white. Name is in the middle of

the page (conventional) but it is not immediately obvious.

The album name is not immediately obvious either – so she has put her name and the album name in the top left so it is clearer.

The font is swirly and folk-like. This conveys the idea that the album will be mostly folky (possibly just a guitar and her voice).

The album name – Alas I cannot Swim is an unconventional name which may signify that this is how the album and the songs will be like – unconventional.

The album cover is similar to Craig Thompson’s – Friend and Foe. In the fact that it is an information overload.

The colour red signifies danger, while the colour orange symbolises happiness.

The illustrations are made to deliberately look hand-drawn this could give the album a personal feel.

Follows the convention: album name, artist, songs included and a review.

Direct mode of address – eye contact being made with the audience.

Close-up shot of the artist – typical convention of a pop-album cover.

Similar album cover to Jessie J’s cover – Who You Are.

The font looks almost like a circus font. This idea I re-enforced by the hat that the artist is wearing.

Strict colour scheme. Black, white and red. The black and white is monochrome so this tells us that the album might be quite conventional – but the red implies that their might be a few twists.

Because her eyes are the only thing blue in this picture – the audience are instantly drawn to them.

The hat is juxtaposed in this image because it looks out of place compared to everything else in the image.

The background is a plain wight – drawing all of our attention to the artist (typical pop genre convention).

The album name is un-conventional (like Laura Marling’s album) – shows that it may not be the typical pop genre convention.
