1. INTRODUCTION
1.1 CCMZ ROLE
The Zephyr Mission Control Center (aka “Centre de Contrôle Mission Zéphyr” or CCMz) is the web interface that will allow Strateole-2 teams to:
- download data generated by instruments onboard Zephyr, - upload tele-commands to instruments, - and more generally monitor the state of Zephyr gondolas and instruments.
The CCMz will allow those actions during both balloon-flight and ground-test phases.
1.2 CCMZ WELCOME PAGE
The CCMz can be accessed at https://webstr2.lmd.polytechnique.fr
1.3 OTHER WEB SITES ASSOCIATED WITH STRATEOLE 2
Other websites are associated with Strateole 2: - S2DAC, the Strateole 2 Data Archive Center, which will integrate meteorological information to
provide support during the balloon campaigns and be the Strateole 2 data repository. A link to the S2DAC website is proposed on the top blue banner in the CCMz welcome page.
- Slack channels (strateole2.slack.com) that will ease communication between the Strateole 2 community during campaigns and tests.
1.4 CAUTIONNARY NOTE
Note that the CCMz is still being developed at the time of this document writing. Some functionalities are thus still missing, but are planned to be integrated by the first balloon campaign. Suggestions of modification or bug reports are welcomed and should be addressed to [email protected]

3. CONNECTION TO THE CCMZ
3.1 AUTHENTIFICATION
Access to the CCMz requires an account (login/password), which are to be entered on the welcome page displayed below.
. CCMz accounts can be requested by sending an email to [email protected]. Logins will generally be: first_letter_of_first_name+surname (e.g. ahertzog). Passwords will be provided by the CCMz superuser.
3.2 RIGHTS ON THE CCMZ
Each CCMz account will be associated with rights that will be defined at the account creation. These rights are intended to limit the user actions for the sake of instrument/gondola safety. For instance:
- the PI of a given instrument will not be able to upload a command to another instrument, - only members of the Zephyr team will be allowed to upload a command to the Zephyr gondola, - only authorized persons (e.g. the CNES operation manager) will be able to initiate the onboard
end-of-flight procedure. Modifications of account rights during the course of the project may be requested by sending an email to [email protected].

4. FLIGHT SUPERVISION
Once connected, the first CCMz page provides tables displaying general information (e.g. position, flight/test phase, latest Iridium communication, etc) on current Strateole 2 balloon flights, as well as on gondolas in test phases. Additional meteorological information on balloon flights (e.g., temperature, pressure) is available by clicking on the balloon markers on the map.
Detailed information on a given balloon flight is obtained by clicking on the balloon identifier in the table. As a reminder, Strateole 2 balloon flights have a unique identifier of the form ST2_CX_NN_TTTT, where:
- X is the Strateole 2 campaign number: 0 for the technological campaign, 1 and 2 for respectively the first and second scientific campaigns,
- NN is the chronological flight number during each campaign, - TTTT is the flight type, which can be either TTL1, TTL2, TTL3, STR1 or STR2.
The flight identifier will be associated with a given Zephyr gondola just before launch, so as to ensure that the chronological flight numbering is respected. As a consequence, gondolas in test phase are associated with a fictitious flight identifier, for which NN will be greater or equal to 70. An alternative direct access to Zephyr gondola information is proposed as well, by clicking on Zephyr gondola identifiers in the tables. Last, a restricted-access “Emergency actions” button is also available to start the end-of-flight procedure in Zephyr gondolas. CNES operation manager will typically click on this button in case of a non-anticipated end of flight.

5. FLIGHT INFORMATION
This page is accessed by clicking on one of the flight identifier in the flight-supervision page. It provides further details on a given balloon flight or a gondola in tests, and gives notably access to both the Zephyr-gondola page and to the instrument pages for this flight. One can return to the flight-supervision page by clicking on the icon on the top right corner of the page.

6. INSTRUMENT PAGE
This page is displayed once an instrument has been selected in the flight-information page. It provides information on the latest iridium communication sessions between the Mission Control Center and the Zephyr gondola for the selected instrument. One can also get details on the instrument carried on this flight. Most importantly, this page displays two icons on the top-left corner that enable the user to either uploads tele-commands (TC) to this instrument, or download individual telemetry (TM) files produced by this instrument.
6.1 SENDING TELE-COMMANDS
Once the “Send TC” icon has been clicked on the previous page, the above page is displayed, which enables the user to upload a tele-command file on the CCMz. This file should contain the whole binary section of the “telecommand message” (as described in [DR1], Section 9.4), and only this section. The TC

file will thus start with the “START” word and end with the “END” word, and contains in-between the “binary data block” and the associated CRC. The CCMz will check the validity of the uploaded file, and will let the user know whether the TC file is OK to be uploaded to the gondola. The user can also select whether the tele-command file has to be uploaded now, or in a delayed time frame (that can currently set between 15 minutes and 2 hours). Last the status of previous tele-commands is also displayed on this page.
6.2 TELEMETRY DOWNLOAD
This page is accessed after clicking on the “Download TM” icon on the instrument page. It lists all the TM files received at the CCMz from the selected instrument. TM files received during balloon flights and test phases are displayed in distinct sections of the page. TM files can be accessed either as:
- raw files, which are hourly compressed archive (tar.gz) files produced by Zephyr onboard with several instrument TM messages,
- or processed files, which correspond to (untarred) individual TM messages exchanged onboard. Note that the processed files include in addition a CRC check by the CCMz, to ensure the integrity of the raw archive file transmission between Zephyr and the ground.
