Exciting New CCIU/Excelsior Partnership Goal: Create a seamless and cost

effective pathway for LPNs to acquire an associate’s degree in nursing and be eligible to take the NCLEX-RN.

Excelsior Courses (Two options) Credit by exam On line classes

SUCCEED Program is designed to support the credit by exam model of course delivery, although students enrolled in the on line course can also enroll in SUCCEED

Benefits of Partnership:Cost Waive the Essential of Nursing Care: Health

Differences requirement For PNP graduates who hold a valid LPN license and

have demonstrated success on the NCLEX-PN within five years of enrollment in Excelsior School of Nursing

Scholarships Excelsior will provide PNP graduates who enroll in Excelsior

College the ability to apply for Excelsior specific scholarships Discount Fees and Tuition

PNP graduates who continue their education beyond the ADN will be provided a special discount on Excelsior stated fees and tuition

Benefits of Partnership: Flexibility Excelsior College Accepts Credits From

Colleges and universities: that are regionally accredited recognized by the New York State Education

Department that have been evaluated by the Excelsior College

faculty and found to follow acceptable educational practices and apply toward our degree programs.

CCIU SUCCEED Program (proposed)

Establish a cohort of 20 – 30 students to enroll in October 2014 and receive support to complete seven nursing courses.

Completion Time (Approx. 17 months*) Complete one course every 9 weeks (Includes time

for practice exam) Schedule to take Excelsior exam at

designated test center immediately following completion of the course

*Beyond the 17 months, students may also choose to receive support for Phase III and IV courses (i.e. Clinical Performance in Nursing Examination)

Who is ready for the SUCCEED Program in October 2014? LPNs who:

have passed NCLEX –PN in the past 5 years

are enrolled at Excelsior College in the nursing program.

completed college level Anatomy & Physiology and Microbiology courses within the past 5 years.

If you have met requirements and are ready. Next steps… Proposed SUCCEED Program is pending

approval by the CCIU Board in July 2014 Following approval, on-line application

will be available from a link on the CCIU web site

If you are not already an Excelsior student, apply ASAP.

If you are not ready for SUCCEED program now… Begin completion of general education

courses at Excelsior, DCCC or another accredited institution, preparing to join SUCCEED program in 2015 or 2016.

If you have general education courses completed (sciences within five years), however you passed NCLEX PN greater than five years ago – suggest you immediately enroll in Excelsior, complete Essential of Nursing Care: Health Differences and then join SUCCEED in October 2014

Costs Detailed cost spreadsheet (including both

Excelsior College and CCIU SUCCEED program costs) will be available in late July 2014

Final cost for SUCCEED program is pending approval (Proposed to be a CCIU application fee of $75.00 and payment to CCIU of $200.00 per month [17 months])

Total Proposed Cost to CCIU = $3475.00* Payment to Excelsior College as posted on

their website*Payment plan is available. Loans through Franklin Mint Federal Credit
