AB 848 (Stone) – Medical Services/SUD Residential Treatment

Allows for physicians and other appropriate medical personnel to be available on-site in residential substance use disorder treatment facilities in order to provide incidental medical services.

SB 11 & SB 29 (Beall) - Mental Health Training for Peace Officers

SB 614 (Leno) – Establishes a Peer and Family Support Specialist Certification Program administered by DHCS. This program will offer training and certification for peers to deliver services as a component of comprehensive mental health and substance use disorder delivery systems, and would enable California to receive federal funds for this purpose. AB 1351 (Eggman) – Amends Penal Code 1000 to allow for pre-trial diversion, instead of requiring the defendant to plead guilty first and then seek deferred entry of judgment for nonviolent misdemeanor drug offenses.

AB 1056 (Atkins) – Proposition 47 FundsPrioritizes the savings realized by implementation of the Safe Neighborhoods and Schools Act pursuant to the passage of Proposition 47, in order to fund proposals that combine mental health services, substance use disorder treatment services, housing-related assistance, job skills training and other community-based, wrap-around social services.
