The school days are going great and everyone has settled in. I hope it has been

great for your family and student(s). Activities are up and going and there are

a lot of exciting things taking place at College Park. Volleyball, tennis, and

cross country have been competing and doing very well. This week we add football as

they open their season Friday night. Next week is busy as it is Homecoming week. Spirit

week with a "red wagon" parade and pep rally on Wednesday at Woodforest Stadi-

um. We will end the week with a game against Aldine MacArthur and the Homecoming

Dance on Saturday night. It is an exciting time. Make sure your child is involved and

attending events so they get the entire high school experience.

Car-line: I appreciate eve-

ryone's efforts to cooperate

with the car line this year. Overall it has

gone very well. A few things to point

out and ask for your help. First, the

more that cars stay in the right hand lane

the better. If you can drop off your stu-

dent prior to the drop off zone but at the

curb in front of the school (not by the CP

bushes), that is helpful and then you can

move to the thru-traffic lane and move

on. Please try not to pass cars in the thru

-traffic lane and pull in front of cars in

the drop-off zone or after the drop off

zone. This action is what slows drop-off

down for everyone. We are currently

unloading 10 cars in the drop off zone

every 10-20 seconds. That is a lot of cars

quickly if everyone is doing what is

asked. Please remember that the more

prepared your student is to exit the car,

the better for everyone. Last, remember,

the more that try to by-pass the system,

the more delays we have for everyone.

On Wednesday, October 10th

, the PSAT/NMSQT (Preliminary SAT and National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test) will be administered to all sopho-mores and juniors on The Woodlands College Park campus. The PSAT/NMSQT serves as a practice SAT test and, for juniors, is a qualifying test for the Nation-al Merit Scholarship contest. A limited number of PSAT tests will be available to freshman on a first-come first-served basis. Freshmen may sign up and pay online through MySchoolCash Online beginning Monday, September 17

th, through Friday, Sep-

tember 28th. Freshmen must pay $17.00 to take

the test. Due to ordering deadlines, there will be no registration after September 28

th.

Freshmen who do not sign up to take the PSAT will be assigned to teachers and classrooms and provided an alternate assignment.

Homecoming Dance 2018 September 8, 2018, TWCP Commons

The TWCP Homecoming Dance will be held on Saturday, September 8 from 8pm-12pm in the TWCP Commons. Tickets will go on sale on the TWCP Webstore beginning August 15 through September 4. Please be sure to pay attention to ticket sales dates and deadlines. Tickets are $25 each and can be purchased on the Webstore. The Webstore link is located on the College Park website. Those bringing dates from other schools must fill out a date form in the AP office. Tickets purchased and date forms must be turned in to the AP office by September 4th. Ticket purchases are limited to 2 per student. Everyone must have a photo ID to enter the dance. No one over the age of 20 will be allowed to enter the dance.

Senior Banner sales are now open at cpspirit.com. Banners will be up from January until May, just in time to display at a graduation

We want to make sure that everyone is off to a great start. In order to do so, we want to remind parents and students of information in the handbook about deliveries to students during the school day.

1. If a student forgets an items at home (lunch, project, assignment), we are happy to have a process in place that allows the parent to sign-in the item in the front office. Students will pick up the item in the assistant principals office between classes or during lunch.

2. Please remember that food items that are delivered for a student by the parent should be for the student only. Due to health and safety issues, you cannot deliver food for a group of students. No Diner Dash/Uber Eats or outside food vendor deliveries will be accepted.

3. In order to maintain the best learning environment please know that we are unable to accept any delivery from an outside vendor (flowers, balloons, etc.) for students.

4. Car services, such as Lyft and Uber, are not allowed to pick up students up for appointments or to travel from school in any method. Students will not allowed to be checked out. We appreciate all of your cooperation and help in making this a smooth year.

Continuing to do our best to keep our students safe and our parents/friends safe,

we have made some changes to the entrances to our gyms and stadiums for our

Athletic activities.

*Entry and exit to the JV stadium/track is on the west side of the stadium off of the parking lot. *Entry and exit to

the building to access the gyms is on the east side of the building next to the robotics lab. Patrons will not be

allowed to enter the building to access the gyms through the doors in front of the gyms on the north side of the

building. Patrons will also not be allowed to enter the athletic hallway on the East side of the building.

*College Park High School dress code policies will be enforced. Students who are not in dress code may be asked to

leave.

*All cheers should be positive in nature. Cheers shall not be aimed at the opposing team or the officials. Students who

continue to aim cheers at the opposing team or official after redirection may be asked to leave.

*Noisemakers of any kind are not allowed.

*Items including, but not limited to, confetti, beads, or balloons are not allowed.

*Coaches, players, and officials are the only personnel allowed in the back athletic hall.

Fall Main Stage- Mother Hicks by Suzan Zeder Auditions will be held August 20 and 21in the College Park Auditorium from 3:00-4:30. Stu-dents only need to attend one audition day. An audition application and sides for the audition will be provided at the time of the audition. At the end of July, both of our TWCP Band Feature Twirlers competed at the National Baton Twirling Association Championships in South Bend, Indiana at Notre Dame University,

America’s Youth On Parade (AYOP). In order to compete at na-tionals, twirlers have to earn a spot by winning a State or Region-al title in a “Miss Majorette Pageant”. A pageant consists of a triathlon style event: modeling and inter-view, twirling (solo) and strutting (intricate dance and baton twirling) with combined scores dictating placements. At AYOP Nationals, both twirlers spent five days competing in the three-part pageant for their age and skill category along with numerous individual events such as solo, strut, two baton, three baton, and modeling. The National Baton Twirling Association has been hosting this national event at Notre Dame University since 1948 and it is the American Olympics of Twirling. Thousands of twirlers converge for an unbelievable week of contest and comradery. Both Emma and Madison performed at the highest level for their age and skill group. Emma Newsoroff is a Senior and earned her opportunity to compete at nationals by earning her title at the 2018 Southwest Regional NBTA Competition that was held at College Park in March. Emma won the Southwest Regional Sen-ior Intermediate Pageant and continued on to compete at nation-als at Notre Dame. Emma finished third out of 27 twirlers in her competition group. Madison Frantzen is a Junior and earned her opportunity to com-pete at nationals by earning her title at the 2018 Texas State NBTA Twirling Competition in Lubbock, TX in June. Madison won the State Teen Beginner Pageant and continued on to compete at nationals at Notre Dame. Madison finished elev-enth out of 37 twirlers in her competition group.
