La inversión en dos nuevos hornos, visión artificial en clasificación, tintó-metro, I+D+I, máquinas rotativas de aplicación de esmalte en seco, etc, nos ha permitido au-mentar por 10 la capacidad productiva hasta llegar a los más de 7.000.000 m2/año.

From the beginning of the firm Cicogres in 1989, the permanent technological innova-tions and expansion in its production plants have been showed with a product of a highest competition. The investment in two new kilns, artificial vision in the classification department, dye metre, R&D, rotary machines to apply dry glaze, etc allowed us to increase by ten our productive capacity to reach a production of 7.000.000 sqm per year.

Our determination to offer a most cutting edge and personal product introduce Cicogres as one of the companies with most renown in the current panorama. From 1989 till today, we have been working for the innovation and the development of the ceramic technology to raise the last aesthetic and technical trends. At the same time, the recuperation and con-servation of the traditional styles took part of our identity as a company.

consejos de colocaciónEs importante consultar con el distribuidor para elegir la junta adecuada al tipo

de baldosa y el color que se quiera utilizar por estética.Siga siempre las indicciones de su distribuidor CICOGRES.

Terminación de la obraLimpieza de las juntas: Respetando los tiempos del fabricante, limpiar con un

trapo de hilo húmedo toda la superficie, incluido el rejuntado. Al secar puede quedar una capa o velo en toda la superficie, que puede ser limpiada con agua. No dejar pasar mucho tiempo para limpiar los restos de las juntas.

Limpiar los restos de obra con productos adecuados. Consultar con el distri-buidor y nunca emplear productos que contengan Ácido Fluorhídrico HF. Pro-tección de las superficies realizadas para evitar impactos, abrasiones, etc.

El mantenimiento de las baldosas cerámicas es sencillo y cómodo. Se pue-den emplear productos específicos para cada tipo de baldosas respetando las indicaciones del fabricante de productos. Consulte con su distribuidor.

CONSEJOS DE COLOCACIÓN DE MALLAS

Información de usoNo se recomienda utilizarlo como pavimento por su poca resistencia al rayado

y al deslizamento. (nula cuando el material está mojado)Un caso de aplicar en pavimento de uso residencial y zonas públicas (zonas

de uso sanitario, docente, comercial, administrativo, etc.) deben cumplir que son interiores, secas y con una pendiente menor al 6%.

Para revestir suelos de ducha, aplicar siempre el anti-deslizante (ANTIGLISS) y/o aplicar una junta antdeslizante.

Preparación de la superficieLa pared donde se va a colocar el vidrio debe ser firme y estar perfectamente

limpia y nivelada. Se debe tapar cualquier grieta, para que la pared quede to-talmente lisa.

La humedad de la pared debe ser inferior al 2%.

Material de agarreComo mínimo cemento cola C2 de color blanco (para minimizar el cambio de

tonalidad del cristal). Recomendamos H40 FLEX de KERAKOLL.Se pueden utilizar adhesivos EPOXIDICOS blancos, aunque son más caros

que el cemento-cola.Para el recubrimiento de piscinas, se debe utilizar adhesivos especiales C2.

Recomendamos H40 TENAX de KERAKOLL.

Colocación Se recomienda colocar todo el material siempre con junta (mínimo 2 mm.) y

utilizar crucetas para conseguir una adecuada continuidad en las juntas.En las zonas con fuerte dilatación térmica o con superficies poco estables,

se recomienda colocar con una junta mayor (mínimo 3 mm.) y utilizar adhesivos con propiedades elásticas.

Para corregir la posición de las bases, se recomienda quitarlas y limpiarlas bien por la parte de atrás antes de volver a colocarlas.

Revestimiento. Extender una fina capa de adhesivo sobre la superficie en la se que vaya a colocar la pieza y otra capa sobre la costilla de la pieza.Utilizar una llana del nº 3 y realizar las incisiones en la capa de adhesivo de la pared y en sentido contrario en la pieza. Colocar la pieza mientras aún esté blando el adhesivo y antes de que se forme una película seca en la superficie.

Pavimento. Proceder igual que con las bases de revestimiento, pero poner una capa más gruesa de adhesivo.

Utilizar una llana superior a la nº 3 (se recomiendan dientes de 10 mm. y rec-tangulares). Colocar la pieza mientras aún esté blando el adhesivo y antes de que se forme una película seca en la superficie.

Mosaicos. Extender una fina capa de adhesivo (mínimo 3mm.) sobre la super-ficie en la que se vaya a colocar y utilizar una llana del nº 3 (dientes triangula res) para mejorar la adherencia y evitar que nos queden huecos vacíos sin adhesivo. Colocar la pieza mientras aún esté blando el adhesivo y antes de que se forme una película seca en la superficie.

Una vez colocado, presione suavemente para obtener una correcta adhesión y eliminar los posibles huecos sin adhesivo.

RejuntadoDeje que el adhesivo se seque antes de pasar al rejuntado.Siga las instrucciones del fabricante de pastas de rejuntar antes de aplicarlas,

preste atención al tiempo de aplicación y secado. Para rejuntar se puede utilizar pasta de rejuntar estándar (se recomienda

CONSEJOS DE COLOCACIÓN DE BALDOSAS CERÁMICAS

Preparación del soporteLa colocación de baldosas debe ser realizada por personal especializado.

Deben elegirse las herramientas y útiles adecuados.Las superficies, tanto de suelos como de paredes, deben estar perfectamen-

te niveladas, pudiendose emplear morteros de nivelación, incluso capas imper-meabilizadoras, de drenaje, etc, si la situación lo requiere. Las superficies deben estar totalmente limpias antes de aplicar el mortero de agarre o el adhesivo.

Elección del adhesivo y sistema de colocaciónLa elección del adhesivo viene definido por el tipo de baldosa cerámica, por

el tipo de la superficie a revestir y por el uso del recinto.La elección del sistema de colocación depende de la ubicación de la obra

(exterior o interior) y de las dimensiones de la baldosa cerámica.Se recomienda consultar con su distribuidor CICOGRES.Se recomienda una colocación en capa finaSe recomienda realizar doble encolado para baldosas que tengan alguno de

sus lados con una longitud superior a 30 cm. Esta técnica se realiza aplicando adhesivo tanto en el soporte como en la baldosa, cubriendo toda la superficie de las mismas.

Cuidados especiales durante la colocaciónUtilizar crucetas de tamaño adecuado según la junta para mantener la orto-

gonalidad del montaje.En colocaciones trabadas o a contrapunta se recomienda que esta no supere

el 25% de la longitud del lado más largo.Comprobar el material ya colocado cuando el adhesivo esta todavía fraguan-

do con el fin de corregir pequeñas variaciones.Se aconseja al colocar, mezclar piezas de varias cajas. Verificar antes de co-

locar: Tonalidad, Calibre y Clase. No se admiten reclamaciones referentes al material colocado.

El rejuntadoLas juntas son un elemento necesario para la conservación de las instalacio-

nes. Existen varios tipos de juntas en una obra:Juntas estructurales: Están diseñadas para absorber los movimientos de la

edificación y siempre deben respetarse. Pueden ser tapadas con perfiles ade-cuados y llenadas con materiales indicados.

Juntas perimetrales: En todas las uniones pared-suelo. El ancho mínimo será de 8 mm. y deben de estar vacías o rellenas con material deformable. Son disi-mulables con el rodapié o el azulejo de pared.

Juntas de colocación: Es la separación que se deja entre las baldosas. Se considera colocación con junta cuando la separación es mayor o igual de 3 mm. y separación sin junta cuando es menos de 3 mm., debiendo dejar siempre una separación mínima de 1,5 mm.

Antes de iniciar el rejuntado, esperar que el mortero de agarre o el adhesivo este totalmente endurecido.

Las juntas tienen que estar limpias y exentas de polvo y partículas.Efectuar el rellenado o sellado de las juntas utilizando una llana de goma dura,

sin dejar vacíos los desniveles.Eliminar el exceso de junta de la superficie moviendo la llana diagonalmente

a las juntas, cuando la mezcla este todavía fresca. Retirar los residuos con la misma espátula.

RejuntadoUna vez que el adhesivo se ha secado se puede rejuntar con una pasta

estándar, siguiendo las instrucciones del fabricante, sobre todo las relativas al tiempo de aplicación y secado. Recomendamos FUGABELLA 0 – 4 de KE-RAKOLL, tanto para interior como para exterior.

Recomendamos tonos claros para la pared y tonos oscuros para el suelo.Inmediatamente después de rejuntar los agujeros y las juntas, elimine los res-

tos de pasta superficiales antes de que se sequen. Para ello, utilice una esponja humedecida con agua y productos de limpieza con PH neutro. Nunca utilice productos abrasivos.

Estas indicaciones son también válidas para limpieza y cuidado posteriores.Siga las instrucciones del fabricante de pastas de rejuntar antes de aplicarlas,

preste atención al tiempo de aplicación y secado.Para rejuntar se puede utilizar pasta de rejuntar estándar (se recomienda FU-

GABELLA 0 – 4 de KERAKOLL).Use una esponja y agua clara para eliminar restos de pasta de la superficie.Para una mejor conservación y limpieza, recomendamos siempre utilizar un

sellador antimanchas, que se aplicará después de colocar el material.

Limpeza y mantenimientoUtilice agua y/o productos de limpieza de PH neutro.Todas las piedras son absorbentes, por ello recomendamos utilizar nuestros

productos de protección para resguardarlas de la humedad, las manchas de aceite y otros líquidos, sobre todo se si usan como pavimento. Antes de aplicar cualquiera de estos productos, es imprescindible que la superficie esté perfec-tamente limpia y seca. Para un óptimo rendimiento de estos productos deben aplicarse en ambientes muy ventilados con una temperatura superior a 5ºC.

Sellador antimanchasEs un producto altamente protector, repelente de aceite y agua quepenetra fácil-mente en la piedra sin formar películas ni alterar el color original de la piedra. Es apto para interior y exterior, no amarillea, permite la transpiración y es estable a los rayos U.V. Se aplica antes de colocar el material, con pincel o pistola de baja presión. Para materiales muy absorbentes se recomienda repetir la operación.

Cera líquida protectoraEs un producto abrillantador de fácil aplicación, especial para mármoles y

piedras. Su principal propiedad es que realza los colores del mármol. Es re-sistente a la luz, no amarillea, es hidrorepelente y resistente a los ácidos. Se aplica, una vez colocado el material, sobre los ángulos y la superficie con un paño humedecido. Después de aplicarlo, se repasa la superficie con un paño seco de algodón o con una mopa. Aunque no es necesario, para optimizar el resultado recomendamos aplicar primero el sellador antimanchas y, al menos 6 horas después, aplicar la cera para realzar el color.

SERIE MATERIA | M

Información de usoEl producto se trata de mezclas de piedra y cristal, por lo que tiene una baja

resistencia al ataque químico.

Preparación de la superficieLa pared donde se va a colocar el mosaico debe ser firme y estarperfecta-

mente limpia, seca y nivelada.

Material de agarreUtilizar un cemento cola C2 (recomendamos H40 FLEX de KERAKOLL) o

adhesivos EPOXIDICOS, siguiendo las instrucciones del fabricante.

ColocaciónExtender una fina capa de adhesivo (mínimo 3 mm) sobre la superficie don-

CorteLo ideal es aplicar aceite de corte en la superficie que se desea cortar, si-

Realizar los cortes rectos con discos de diamantes refrigerados con agua.Realizar el corte sobre superficies planas o sobre el material ya colocado.

PerforadoPara agujerear las piezas de la serie VITRA, es necesario realizar un corte

desde el lado de la pieza más cercano a donde se quiere realizar el agujero. Una vez realizado dicho corte, se puede proceder a la perforación desde dicho corte (para cualquier consulta se pueden dirigir a los comerciales de Dune).

Taladre las bases una vez colocadas. Para ello utilice una taladradora manual con un regulador de velocidad y con una broca especial para vidrio (se reco-miendan de la casa R&MBOX con el kit de refrigeración).

Durante todo el proceso de taladro debe mojar constantemente la pieza. No presione con fuerza, deje que la broca vaya perforando gradualmente, de lo contrario, se pueden romper los bordes o pueden dar pié a la aparición de grietas posteriormente.

Cuanto mayor sea el diámetro del agujero, menos r.p.m. deberán aplicarse (1.800–2.000 r.p.m. para 10 mm., 800–1.000 r.p.m. para 25 mm.). El diámetro que se puede perforar sobre vidrio colocado oscila entre 6 y 25 mm. El diámetro del agujero sobre vidrio debe ser siempre 2 mm. mayor que el de una superficie normal. Los bordes del agujero deben ser limitados cuidadosamente.

Limpieza y mantenimientoUtilice siempre agua o limpia cristales y aplíquelos con una bayeta o esponja.

Nunca utilice productos abrasivos ni antical, tampoco utilice estropajos.

SERIE STONE | S

Informacion de usoLa piedra es un producto natural compuesto por piezas únicas, cuyos matices

y tonos le confieren un aspecto auténtico e inimitable. Para evitar cambios brus-cos de tonos y asegurarse de que todo el mármol que va a colocar es de la mis-ma partida, le recomendamos pedir siempre un 5% más del material necesario.

Las piedras naturales pueden utilizarse tanto en interior como en exterior como revestimiento o como pavimento (siempre siguiendo las instrucciones adecua-das en cada caso). Es frecuente que presenten agujeros superficiales que les son propios, sobre todo los travertinos. Para protegerlos de la suciedad y de las condiciones climatológicas al usarlas en exteriores, dichos agujeros deberán ser rellenados con pasta de rejuntar hidrorepelente.

Mosaicos. Resistencia a los agentes químicos baja. Pérdida del co-lor y aparición de manchas sobre las superficies de la piedra. En funcióndel color de la piedra, se comportarán de forma diferente. Para minimizar estos efectos recomendamos sellar los mosaicos con nuestro SELLADOR ANTIMAN-CHAS y/o CERA LÍQUIDA PROTECTORA. Si se tratan correctamente pueden utilizarse para forrar suelos de ducha siempre (salvo RIO JADE o la SPLIT FACE). También se pueden usar en exteriores.

Preparación de la superficieCuanto más nivelada, limpia y seca esté la superficie la colocación resultará

más fácil.

Material de agarreUtilizar un cemento cola C2 o productos específicos para colocar las piedras

naturales (recomendamos H40 FLEX de KERAKOLL). No colocar exceso de cemento-cola ya que el sobrante sale por las juntas de las piedras. Para mo-saicos se pueden utilizar adhesivos EPOXIDICOS, siguiendo las instrucciones del fabricante.

Clean the rest of the site with the appropriate products. Contact the dealer and never use products that contain Hydrofluoric Acid HF.

Protect the surfaces already set against impacts, abrasions, etc.Maintenance of ceramic tiles is easy and convenient. Specific products can

be employed for each type of tile. Carefully follow the instructions of both the manufacturer of the tiles and the manufacturer of the products. Contact the dealer or advice.

It is advised on having placed to mix pieces of several boxes. To check before placing the tonality, the calibre and the class. Are not admitted claims relating to the placed material.

LAYING RECOMENDATIONS FOR NETTED TILES

VITRA SERIES | V

Performance useWe do not recommend its use as floor tile, basically due to its scarce resis-

tance to slipping (null when the material is wet) and due to the fact that it can be easily scratched.

If the product will be used as floor tile, use only in private and public areas (areas for sanitary, teaching, commercial, administrative… use), if they are inside, dry and with a slope of less than 6%.

If the product will be used as floor tile in showers, please recommend always the use of anti-slip.

Proper preparation of substrateThen wall where the glass will be fixed must be perfectly clean and level. All

cracks must be filled, so that the wall will be completely even. The moisture content of the substrate must be less than 2%.

Installation materialFor the correct installation, use preferably white-coloured (to minimize the

change of tone in the glass colour) concrete glue C2 (we recommend Kerakoll’s H40 Flex Concrete Glue).

White EPOXI adhesives can also be used, although they are more expensive than concrete glue.

When installing low porosity material in swimming pool walls, use especial adhesives, like C2 (we recommend KERAKOLL’s Concrete Glue H40 TENAX.

InstallationWe recommend to install all the material always with space between the tiles

(minimum 2 mm.) and to use crosspieces to obtain an appropriate continuity between the joints.

A larger joint (minimum 3mm.) and highly elastic adhesives are recommended for areas that are subject to severe thermal dilatation or on non-stable surfaces.

To correct the position of the bases, it is recommended to take them off and clean the back correctly before placing them again.

Wall Tiles. We recommend to extend a thin layer of adhesive on the substrate on which the piece will be installed and another layer on the piece’s rib.

Use a notched trowel no.3 and make the incisions into the adhesive layer of the wall and in the opposite sense in the piece.

Place the piece while the adhesive is still soft and before a dry layer of film forms on the adhesive surface.

Floor Tiles. The installation is similar to the wall tiles but instead of placing a thin layer of adhesive we recommend to extend a thicker layer.

Use a notched trowel larger than no.3 (we recommend 10mm. rectangular teeth). Place the piece while the adhesive is still soft and before a dry layer or film forms on the adhesive surface.

Mosaics. Extend a think layer of adhesive (minimum 3mm.) on the substrate where the piece will be installed and use a no.3 notched trowel (triangular teeth) to improve adherence and to avoid the existence of holes with no adhesive. Place the piece while the adhesive is still soft and before a dry layer of film forms on the adhesive surface.

Once the piece is placed, press carefully to obtain a correct adhesion and to eliminate possible holes with no adhesive.

GroutingAllow adequate time for adhesive to cure before proceeding to grouting.

LAYING RECOMENDATIONS FOR CERAMIC TILES.

Preparation for the tile settingThe laying of ceramic tiles must be carried out by an experienced professional.

Always use the appropriate tool and equipment.The surfaces, whether it be floors or walls, must be perfectly levelled. For this

purpose, a regulating or levelling mortar can be used or even water-proofing or drainage layers, etc, if the situation requires it. The surfaces must be completely clean before applying the mortar or the adhesive.

Choice of adhesive and method of applicationThe choice of adhesive is defined by the type of ceramic tile, the type of sur-

face to be covered and the purpose of the tiled area.The choice of tiling method depends on the collocation of the site (outside or

inside) and the dimensions of the ceramic tiles.It is recommended to contact the dealer and to follow the instructions of the

manufacturer.It is recommended to use a fine layer as opposed to a generous one.It is recommended to use double the adhesive with those tiles which have one

or more sides longer than 30 cm. This technique is achieved by placing adhesive both on the tile setter and on the tile, completely covering their surface.

Special care during settingUse crosses of the appropriate size according to the joint, in order to maintain

the orthogonality of the setting.If to be set in a brickwork style or at a counterpoint, it is recommended not to

surpass 25% of the longest side.Check the material applied while the adhesive is still setting, in order to correct

small variations.

GroutingThe joints are a necessary element for the conservation of the premises. There

are various types of joints in a site:A. Structural Joints: These are designed to absorb movements in the building

and must always be respected. They can be covered with adequate profiles and filled with the indicated materials.

B. Perimeter Joints: All joints where the wall meets the floor. The minimum with will be 8 mm. and must be empty or filled with a deformable material. They can be concealed with the skirting board or the wall tie.

C. Setting Joints: These are the spaces left between tiles. The setting will be considered to have a joint when the space between each tile is greater than or equal to 3 mm. For spaces of less than 3 mm., there is considered to be no joint. There should always be a minimum gap of at least 1,5 mm.

Before starting to apply the grout around the tiles, ensure that the mortar or adhesive is completely hard.

The joints must be completely clean and free from dust and particles.Refill or seal the joints with grout using a grout float of hard rubber, without

leaving spaces or uneven levels.Remove any excess grout from the surface by moving the grout float in a

motion diagonal to the joints, while the mixture is still fresh. Remove any residue with the same spatula.

It is important to consult the dealer when choosing the grout that is adequate for the tile and the colour that is the most aesthetically appealing.

Always follow the instructions of the manufacturer.

GroutingOnce the adhesive has dried up, you can grout the piece with standard grouting

paste, following the manufacturer’s instructions, basically those related to appli-cation and curing time. You can use a standard grouting paste (KERAKOLL’s FUGABELLA 0 – 4 is recommended), both outdoors and indoors.

We recommend light tones for walls and dark tones for floors.Eliminate the surplus grouting paste immediately after grouting holes and joints

with a wet sponge or with neutral PH cleaning products. Never use abrasive products.

This advice is also applicable for a better conservation and cleaning.We recommend the use of a stain-proof sealer to be applied after the insta-

llation.

Cleaning and maintenanceUse water and/or neutral PH cleaning products.Stones are absorbent, so we recommend the use of protection products to

protect them from dampness and oils other liquids stains.Before applying any of these products, please be sure that the surface is

perfectly clean and dry. For an optimum performance, apply the products in ventilated environments with a temperature of more than 5ºC.

Stain-proof sealerIt is a highly protective product, water – and oil – repellent, which penetrates

the stone easily without producing colour changes. It is suitable for inside an outside, does not get yellow, allows transpiration and is UV stable. Apply with brush or low pressure spray. For highly absorbent materials it es recommended to apply twice.

Liquid Protective waxIt is a polishing product, very easy to apply, special for marbles and stones.

Its basic property is that it enhances the colours of the marbles. It is light re-sistant, does not get yellow and is water-proof and acid-resistant. Apply on the angles and surface least six hours later, the wax to enhance the colour.

Straight cuts can be done with diamond blade wheel fitted with water-cooling systems.

Please place the piece on a completely flat surface or install the piece before cutting it.

DrillingTo drill Vitra range pieces, please make an incision on the side closest to where

the hole will be drilled. Once the incision has been performed, it is possible to proceed to drill starting form that cut (In case of doubt, you can contact your Dune sales representative).

Please drill the basis once they have been installed. Use a hand drill with speed variation and with a special drill for glass (we recommend the R&MBOX drill with water-cooling system).

Drilling must be performed under continuous water-cooling. Do not apply ex-cessive pressure on the piece while drilling. Allow the drill to gradually perforate. Otherwise, the edges can break or cracks can appear later on.

The larger the hole diameter is, the less r.p.m. must be applied (1.800 – 2.000 r.p.m. for 10mm., 800 – 1.000 r.p.m. for 25mm.). If the pieces are already insta-lled, holes between 6 and 25 mm can be drilled. The diameter of holes on glass must always be of least 2mm., slightly bigger than those on ordinary surfaces. The edges of the hole must be properly grinded.

Cleaning and MaintenanceAlways use clear water or glass detergent and apply them with a soft cloth or

sponge. Avoid using abrasive cleaners, anti-lime cleaners or steel wool.

STONE SERIES | S

Performance useStone is a natural product composed by unique pieces, whole shade varia-

tions and tones grant a unique and inimitable look.To avoid abrupt changes in tones and to ensure the product’s homogeneity,

we recommend ordering 5% of additional material.Natural stones can be used both indoor and outdoor as wall tiles and as floor

tiles (always following the appropriate instructions in each case). Tumbled mar-bles and specially travertines may have holes in their surface, which are natural in this kind of materials. Please note that when the piece presents superficial holes, we advice to fill them in with a damp-proof grouting paste to avoid dirt to accumulate.

Mosaics. Low resistance to chemical agents. Loss of colour and possible staining on the stone surface. Depending on the stone colour, they will behave differently. To minimize the effects, we recommend the use of a STAIN-PROOF SEALER and/or LIQUID PROTECTIVE MAX. When treated correctly, they can be used as shower tray floor (except RIO JADE or SPLIT FACE). They can also be used outdoors.

Proper preparation of substrateA levelled, clean and dry surface will ease the installation.

Installation MaterialFor the correct installation, use preferably concrete glue C2 (we recommend

Kerakoll’s H40 Flex Concrete Glue). Please do not apply excess concrete glue, since the surplus amount might leak through the stone joints.

For mosaics, use white EPOXI adhesives. Follow the manufacturer’s instruc-tions.

RESISTENCIA AL RAYADO. UNE 67-101-92 = EN 101La dureza de un azulejo mide la resistencia de su superficie a ser rayada.Se le asigna al azulejo el número inmediatamente inferior al primer mineral de

la escala Mohs que raye.

RESISTENCIA AL CHOQUE TÉRMICO. UNE-EN ISO 10545-11Dicha determinación se realiza sometiendo la baldosa entera a 10 ciclos de

variación de temperatura entre15l’Cy145l’C.

RESISTENCIA AL CUARTEO. UNE-EN ISO 10545-11Determinación de la resistencia a la formación de fisuras sometiendo baldosas

enteras al vapor, a alta presión en un autoclave, y después examinándolas en busca de fisuras tras la aplicación de un tinte en la cara esmaltada.

RESISTENCIA AL ATAQUE QUÍMICO. UNE-EN ISO 10545-13Dicho ensayo determina, por separado, a los productos de limpieza, a los

ácidos y a los alcalinos.Para ensayar la resistencia a la manchas, se aplica una solución de azul de

metileno y otra de permanganato potásico sobre la pieza y se dejan secar, luego se limpia y se observa si hay cambios visibles en la superficie de la baldosa. El resultado se clasifica, de mayor a menor, en 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, siendo el valor mínimo admitido el 2.

Para ensayar la resistencia a los productos domésticos de limpieza, se so-mete la baldosa durante 6 horas a la solución en cuestión y se examina si hay cambios visibles. Los resultados se clasifican de mayor a menor resistencia en, GA - GB - GC.

Para ensayar la resistencia del ácido clorhídrico y al hidróxido de potasio, el procedimiento es similar, pero el resultado de ensayo es de 7 días. Los resulta-dos se clasifican de mayor a menor resistencia en, GLA - GLB - GLC.

RESISTENCIA A LA HELADA. UNE-EN ISO 10545-12Cuando la cantidad de agua que absorbe un azulejo es grande, al aumentar el

volumen de la misma por congelación, puede romper el azulejo.Dicho ensayo cosiste en, empapar de agua las baldosas y someterlas a ciclos

entre +5I’C. Y -5I’C.Todos los lados de las baldosas son expuestos a la congelación durante 100

ciclos de congelación-deshielo.

Las bal-dosas cerámicas se agrupan en 5 clases según el resultado del procedimiento. La clase 5 corresponde a la clase de baldosas para las cuales es más fácil hacer desaparecer un agente de manchas concreto; la clase 1 corresponde a la clase de baldosas para la que es imposible hacer desaparecer un agente de manchas concreto con ninguno de los procedimientos y/o la cara vista quedan-do irreversiblemente deteriorada.

WATER ABSORTION. UNE-EN 180 10545-3Water absortion measures the degree of internal porosity of the ceramic

body.The test determines the quantity of water absorbed by the pieces when sub-

merged in boiling water for a certain period of time. Water absorption is expres-sed as a % of the dry mass of the pieces.

SCRATCH RESISTENCE. UNE 67-101-92=EN 101Scratch resistanse is a mesure of the hardness of the surface of a tile.The tile is assigned the number immediately below that of the first mineral on

the Mohs scale that scratches it.

THERMAL SHOCK RESISTANCE. UNE-EN ISO 10545-11This is determined by subjecting the whole tile to 10 cycles of alternating bet-

ween the temperature of cold water and slightly above of boiling water.This test is performed at 15l’ and 145l’C.

RESISTANCE TO BREAKAGE. UNE-EN ISO 10545-11Measure the resistanse to glaze breakage, testing whole pieces to water va-

pour and pressure cooker, after painting the glazed side with ink.Searching for the glaze cracks.

CHEMICAL RESISTANCE. UNE-EN ISO 10545-13This test separately determines the resistanse of the tiles to stains, cleaning

products, acids and alcalis.To test stain resistance, a methylene blue solution and a potassium perman-

ganate solution arte applied to the piece and allowed to dry. The piece is then cleaned and observed for visible changes to the tile surface.

The result is classified on a descending scale of 5,4,3,2,1. The lowest accep-table value for 6 hours and examined for visible changes.

The results are classified on a descending scale of GA- GB - GC.To test resistance to hydrochloric acid and potassium hydroxide, the procedu-

re is similar but the test period is 7 days.The results are clasified on a descending scale of GLA- GLB - GLC.

FROST RESISTANCE. UNE-EN ISO 10545-12When a tile absorbs a large quantity of water and the volume of this increases

on freezing, the tile can break.The test consist of soaking the tiles in water and subjecting them to tempera-

ture cycles from +5I’C to -5I’C.All sides of the tiles are exposed to freezing over 100 freeze-thaw cycles.

MESUREMENT TO STAINS RESISTANCE. UNE-EN ISO 10545-14The method to mesure the resistanse to stains consists in keeping the showing

side of the tile during certain time to different stain proofs, applying the different solutions to remove the various types of stains and then analizing the results in order to detect irreversible changes.

From this procedure we obtain 5 degrees according to the results.The 5th degree wouid be aplicable to those surfaces that have been the ea-

siest to clean and the surface has not been deteriorated, the 1th wouid be the hardest to remove or the surface has been irreversible deteriorated.

SLIP RESISTANCE. UNE-ENV 12633:2003With the aim of reducing the risk of slipperiness, the technical construction

code (CTE) classifies the floors according to their localization in buildings, Sani-tary areas, educational centres, commercial centres, administrative areas, Par-
