From lot, walk to the r right of the ballfields. See map on reverse r green connector area between Hauser Nature Center and the Tamarack Meadow. Please do not walk through our neighbor's yard. Thank you. SEE CATHY's TRAIL SIGN. You can go either direction on the half-mile trail trail that loops around the Tamarack Meadow. Enjoy the varied vegetation of the meadow, including blueberry bushes and goldenrod as well as tamarack, deciduous conifers whose needles turn golden in autumn before dropping. Shrub-land birds nest here. In springtime, watch the woodcock's courtship flight at dusk and dawn. EXPLORE THE WOODLAND, moving along the blue trail on the edge of a boreal coniferous swamp, a habitat more commonly found in Canada and New England. Have fun on the Boulderfields, with rocky remnants left after the last glacier retreated from this area, then make your way through a beautiful red spruce forest. The woods trail proceeds through Northern Hardwood rest, made up primarily of beech, cherry and red maple trees, to re- connect with the Tamarack Meadow loop. Enjoy the sights, sounds and smells in each of the habitats along the way! Enjoy two trails: Easy 1.65 mile woodland & meadow loop Easy half-mile meadow loop DIRECTIONS TO THE NATURE CONSERVANCY OFFICE: From North and South: Take NE Extension of PA turnpike to exit 35 and follow 1-80 East. Continue to exit 284 (Blakeslee) and turn onto PA-115 South for 3.1 miles. Turn left onto Long Pond Road (by Pocono Raceway). Follow for 2.8 miles t o our office on the left. From East and West: Take 1-80 East to exit 284 (Blakeslee) and turn onto PA-115 South for 3.1 miles. Turn left onto Long Pond Road (by Pocono Race-way). Follow for 2.8 miles to our office on the left.
