sgscc.edu.au 9528 3344 October 2015 My goodness what a year it has been. As I have reflected on the year that has past and I think about the year ahead the word that keeps springing to mind is change. My first thoughts are “why do we need change?” Why can’t things stay the same?” And then on further reflection I think about the past 22 plus years I have been Manager of SGSCC disAbility and the enor- mous changes we have been through. We started with 8 clients to now over 120 clients. We were a Day Program Provider to now being a provider of not only centre based but also individualised supports. We started with 3 staff to now having 80 plus staff. As we move into one of the periods of biggest change ever to the disability sector I have to say that whilst the uncertainty and challenges are big I am committed to the change. I believe we would not be where we are today without a commitment to change, flexibility and continuous improvement. We are now a registered NDIS provider with Third Party Verifica- tion. The future will be that we will not only provide Centre based supports, we will expand our individualised supports, provide Support Coordination and extend our hours of delivery. Can I say to each and every one of you, clients, families and carers, we are committed to the change that the NDIS will bring, we are committed to you, to listen, learn, support and guide you through the NDIS Planning process. Please speak with your Sup- port Planner to ask for assistance. Whilst with the rollout of the NDIS we do need to make chang- es please know that we are committed to supporting you the client and your family through these changes. I know it won’t be easy, there will be challenges but we are determined as a NDIS Provider to open up the opportunities that will come with greater choice and control to provide quality of service that will continue into the future. I look forward to continuing to provide a quality of service that meets your needs. I would also like to thank all of the wonderful staff for their continuing commitment and hard work. I would also like to thank the many community members who have supported us over 2016. I wish everyone a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year. See you in 2017. Regards Cathy Lovelock Please Note: we are only providing shutdown dates until the NDIS rolls out in July. We will keep you informed. Wow another year draws to a close and hasn’t it whizzed by.Loftus has been a busy and fun place this year. We’ve had a few new faces join the Loftus crew. It’s been great getting to know them and they’ve fitted in nicely. Over the year we’ve gone on new adventures and enjoyed our old favourites. The swimming group has enjoyed seeking and finding new and exotic swimming spots along this beautiful coast that we get to call home. The other access groups have enjoyed going places like the Museum of Contemporary Arts and browsing the sights and sounds they have to offer. Others have been brave enough to jump on some the rides at Luna park. All and all its been a great year we’re looking forward to having a small rest and coming back to build on it next year.Merry Christmas from Biar and the Loftus Team.
