Introducing Version 5.0

Since 1997, thousands of users and hundreds of installations have used the Catella® PACS system. Version 5.0 is the latest in this successful digital imaging solution. 5.0 focuses on the needs of a maturing market for easy installation, easy deployment and easy maintenance.

We have added a diagnostic browser-based viewer, greatly enhanced our print composer and included a ready set-up for a variety of CD/DVD recorders and labelers. Code for our optional film and paper scanner acquisition module is also embedded in every software package allowing fast and easy installation of this feature if needed.

Standing on a bedrock of successful installations, Catella 5.0 provides a solution for the next generation of PACS users.

As digital imaging systems mature and become the standard for quality imaging, independent healthcare institutions such as imaging centers, clinics and private practices have the same needs as larger healthcare systems.

Today's PACS systems must be easily installed, reliable and user-friendly. They must easily interconnect with other patient management software and they must be accessible from anywhere at any time.

Through its web-based design and its large range of features, Catella 5.0 addresses all of these requirements.

Catella Workstation

Catella 5.0 is comprised of three software components: Catella PACS Server, Catella Workstation and Catella PACS Web Viewer. Written in a client-server architecture and operating on MS SQL database, Version 5.0 is fully DICOM 3.0 conformant. Catella PACS is scalable from a single user to the largest hospital based installation with multiple archives and hundreds of users.

– While maintaining all of the imaging tools of earlier versions, 5.0 expands the user's features in several key areas. These include ability to compare images across series and studies, create multiple custom worklists, create unlimited hanging protocols (even “on-the-fly”), access a nearly unlimited number of image archives, instantly print to DICOM or Window-based printers creating custom layouts as necessary), and record images to CD/DVD's with multiple studies, multiple patients, anonymized if necessary, and with or without a self-playing viewer.

Catella Server - Our powerful GUI interface now allows the user to control all aspects of their set-up and daily requirements. The administrative ability to customize each user's reading experience is almost unlimited-from the way the images are displayed, to the information displayed, to the type and number of speciality worklists. The administrator has complete control over which images are available to whom. Archive sizes start at 1TB and have been built up to 50TB. There is no practical limit to Catella's scalability.

New to Catella 5.0 is a built in, template-based reporting model that enables creation of customized templates for all kinds of study types. Images can even be included in reports. Catella 5.0 supports multiple storage media options and can be configured to provide various online and offline archive solutions.

A complete hanging protocol system (also accessible from the workstation module) is now available along with an even more powerful rules-based system to route patient images and studies to multiple destinations.

Like previous generations, 5.0 is designed with an automated image back-up system. We prefer this system to having to rely on schedules or memory to do this critical task. We offer a variety of systems, including removable USB drives, hot swap drives and duplicate archives as back-ups.

– Availability of diagnostic quality viewing from anywhere at any time is increasingly becoming a “must have” for medical professionals. Catella 5.0 provides this via its powerful browser-based viewing software. With the same features as our workstation software, Catella Web Workstations, based on a concurrent-user model, make this new version an easily deployable enterprise level PACS for both institutional users and their referring physicians. Equally important, Catella Web-Viewer establishes Version 5.0 as a powerful teleradiology system.

Catella PACS products don’t cost an arm and a leg. Our pricing includes pre-planning meetings and interfacing with your modality providers. To complete your system, let’s discuss your hardware needs and configure a solution right for you.

Design, development, support, implementation and equipment validation for Catella PACS are all performed by AMD and its authorized dealers.

Beyond the Basics

– This is the starting point for any radiology or clinic workflow. Most important, it allows you to enter patient demographic information only once and carry the identical information through to each of your network entry points without the need for data reentry.

Catella Scheduler is an intuitive interface that allows you to schedule studies for multiple doctors and multiple

rooms for all of your image modalities. Once the data is entered, the Scheduler generates worklists for all DICOM MWL compliant modalities.

– Though Catella PACS provides an easy way for you to print to DICOM or Windows® OS printers, the more common and now most economical way to provide copies of studies is to record them to a CD or DVD. Being able to automatically label and record these copies saves valuable administrative and clerical time. Depending on the frequency with which you create these copies, Catella offers three widely used automated labelers and recorders: Rimage, Primera and Duet. A custom label is also provided with your purchase.

– Digitizing Film is often required to maintain patient record continuity. Catella 5.0 has integrated software for Vidar film digitizers and a variety of video capture devices. Connect one of these devices to any Catella Workstation and with the additional acquisition software license you can start processing films or images.

Specialty Software - 3D, Mammography and Orthopedic Templating software is available and fully integrated with Catella 5.0 software.

Who is AMD Technologies?
