Globally, Chevron holds 170 trillion cubic feet (Tcf) of un-risked gas resources - almost 80 Tcf are in the Asia Pacific region. With total discovered gas resources exceeding 50 Tcf , we are the largest natural gas resource holder in Australia.

Since mid-2009 Chevron has made more than 25 discoveries in Australia and our exploration results are recognised as among the best in the industry.

For more about our best practice in geoscience and petroleum engineering, please check your program for Chevron speakers.

Dear Colleagues,

On behalf of SPE, the SPE Western Australian Section and the conference organising committees, welcome to Perth – Australia’s energy capital, for the 2016 SPE Asia Pacific Oil and Gas Conference and Exhibition (APOGCE).

APOGCE is SPE’s premier upstream technical conference in the Asia Pacific region, covering the broadest range

of disciplines involved in exploration and production activities. As SPE’s flagship conference in Asia Pacific, APOGCE provides an important platform for technology dissemination, knowledge sharing and collaboration at regional and global scales.

Themed Catching the Next Wave – Delivering Affordable Energy, keynote speeches, panel discussions and technical papers at APOGCE are targeted to deliver insights to address the critical and dynamic challenges the industry is facing today. Your participation in APOGCE provides you a unique opportunity to gain insights from eminent industry leaders and subject-matter experts, as well as share new perspectives and discuss technological advancements with technical professionals in the energy industry. APOGCE also features important programmes aimed at shaping the growth of our industry’s young professionals and student members. Young professionals will learn from and engage with industry leaders at the Young Professionals Workshop while university students from across the region have the opportunity to compete in the Regional Student Paper Contest. In addition, local high school teachers and students will explore stimulating components of our industry through the Education Day and Teachers’ Day Energy4Me workshops.

Thank you for your support and participation in APOGCE 2016. Our industry has an amazing story to tell and we trust that this conference will be informative and enriching for you.

Sincerely,

Gerry FlahertyConference ChairmanGeneral Manager of Asset DevelopmentChevron Australia

DISTINGUISHED LECTURER SESSION

Education Day is an initiative to introduce local high school students to Petroleum Engineering and the broader oil and gas industry. Students with a keen interest in mathematics and science, and considering further education in engineering are invited to participate in this exciting, hands-on learning experience.

Teachers’ Day is an initiative to introduce local high school teachers to the energy industry by showing them how they can incorporate science, engineering, technology and energy topics into classrooms through creative teaching and fun interactive activities.

At this regional contest, shortlisted students present and compete for the opportunity to advance and represent Asia Pacific at the International Student Paper Contest, held during SPE's Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition (ATCE). The winning regional undergraduate and postgraduate students are sponsored to attend the international contest and their papers are published in the conference proceedings and on OnePetro. Conference delegates are encouraged to attend and support the student presentations.

KNOWLEDGE SHARING ePOSTER SESSIONSAn ePoster is an electronic version of the traditional poster, presented on a digital flat screen. The electronic format offers the added benefit of animation and video to enhance the visual experience and provide greater interactivity between attendees and authors.

During the ePoster sessions, authors will present their technical papers at designated ePoster stations. Attendees are encouraged to attend the sessions for more knowledge sharing and networking opportunities. ePosters are also available for viewing at ePoster stations throughout the conference.
