In 1993, Cala’s Artistic Director, Geoffrey Simon, decided to indulge himselfin the sound of his own instrument by recording an orchestra of 40 cellosplaying a mixture of classical and popular music, much of it especiallyarranged for the occasion.

What started as a whim has developed into a 10-CD series, famous for itscombination of ear-catching arrangements written by top London arrangersand played by the cream of London’s orchestral, theatre and sessionmusicians.
