The Hazards Centre, a special unit of the Sanchal Foundation, was set

up in 1997 to provide professional and community services to various

labour organisations. The centre specializes in locating and alleviating

„hazards‟ the communities and labour orgainsations face on quotidian

basis. The centre undertakes research work to provide ideas to combat

conflict situations regarding labour for larger social groups. It also

encourages community organisations to carry out their own research

and helps them to implement policies and their analysis.

The activities of the Centre focus mainly on research, training,

publication, communication, and assistance for various campaigns.

The centre is always prompt to assist a wide range of groups and

organisations mainly in urban areas on diverse issues of development

policy, planning and practice such as land and housing, health,

sanitation, transport, water, electricity, environment, education,

governance, and livelihoods across the country. A multi-disciplinary

team at the Centre helps them meet challenges and adapt to changing

circumstances.
