The Norwegian early music ensemble Barokkanerne has released a new CD on the LAWO Classics label devoted to the music of Georg Philipp Telemann — one of music history’s most productive composers. Telemann was highly regarded by his contemporaries and remains today more fashionable than ever because of his refreshingly imaginative and stylistically varied compositions. “Totally Telemann” is filled to the brim with lush music created in a collaboration of renowned international artists and Norway’s finest early musicians. Leading the ensemble is Kati Debretzeni (concert- master of Sir John Elliot Gardiner’s English Baroque Soloists). She is also soloist in a violin concerto and a double concerto for violin and flute. Star oboist Alfredo Bernardini guests Barokkanerne as soloist in an oboe concerto and in the orchestral suite “La Bourse”. Together with leading Norwegian artists such as flautist Torun Kirby Torbo and recorder player Ingeborg Christophersen they contribute to a recording you will want to hear again and again. Barokkanerne, a period instrument ensemble based in Oslo, maintains an extensive concert schedule and has appeared at numerous festivals, including the Oslo International Church Music Festival, the Kirsten Flagstad Festival, the Oslo Opera Festival, and the Arts Festival of North Norway. The ensemble has also contributed to a number of television and radio productions of the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation. “Empfindsamkeit” (LWC1038), its first release on the LAWO Classics label, has received glowing reviews both at home and abroad.
