Allied Systems Companys Marine CraneDivision designs and manufactures severe

duty hydraulic and electric pedestal cranes andboat davits. Allieds Cranes are used primarilyin shipping, oil and gas processing, nuclearpower generation, oceanographic research andmilitary applications. Models include fixedlength, telescopic and knuckle boom cranes incapacities from 2 to 125 tons with boomlengths up to 125 feet.

Allieds crane designs offer many significantperformance and space-saving advantagesover cable and lattice-type cranes and arecustom engineered to fit within a variety ofenvelope constraints. A wide range of options

and accessories are available to satisfy theneeds of each particular installation. All cranesundergo stringent performance and overloadtesting and are delivered ready for installationwith material and test certificates.

    MANUFACTURING CERTIFICATION AND

    QUALITY ASSURANCE PROGRAM

Allied Systems Company is licensed by theAmerican Petroleum Institute to manufactureoffshore cranes to API 2C specification and toapply the API monogram. As an API licensedmanufacturer, Allied adheres to the API Q1Specification for Quality Assurance Programsfor all products. This annually audited programrequires strict adherence to a wide variety of

quality assurance/quality control criteria andrequires control documentation relative topersonnel qualification, design, drawings, manufacturing processes, procurement, material identification, traceability, inspection, handling, storage and document retention.

    STATE-OF-THE-ART HYDRAULICS FOR

    SMOOTH PERFORMANCE

The superior characteristics of Allied'shydraulics provide a performance advantageover competitors. Allied selects the finesthydraulic components available and designsthese into each crane package. Hydraulicboom luffing cylinders provide positive powerup and down with infinitely variable control.

Compared to cable hoist/boom systems, hydraulic cylinders offer smoother performanceand controllability for safer operation. Thepositive cylinder stops prevent the boom fromexperiencing unwanted over-travel in eitherdirection.

    ALLIED'S OVERLOAD SAFETY SYSTEM

    PROTECTS EQUIPMENT AND PERSONNEL

The Allied Hydraulic Overload Safety System isa standard feature on all Allied cranesunlessspecial electronic systems are requested. Asboom lowering or lifting creates load shiftingwhich can cause an overload condition, the

hydraulic system automatically locks the boomin place and puts the winch in a lockedposition. The operator then has the ability toraise the boom to decrease radius or to lowerthe load, either of which returns the crane to asafe condition. Visual and audible alarms canbe incorporated into the system as anadditional safety feature.

Hydraulic counterbalance valves on winches, boom luffing and telescopic cylinders areanother standard safety feature on all Alliedcranes. These valves stop the cranes move-ment in the event of hose failure or suddenloss of hydraulic pressure.

SIMPLE AND LOW COST MAINTENANCEAllied Cranes benefit from numerous strategiesto reduce maintenance and lifecycle costs. Tosimplify inspection and recoating, Allied fixedand telescopic box boom cranes have cleanerlines than traditional lattice boom designs. Thebroad, flat surfaces of the box design alsomake it less susceptible to the joint corrosionthat frequently plagues lattice-boom cranes. For easy installation and removal of boom andfoot pin, most Allied foot pin mounting bracketsare a split-cap trunnion design. To decreasethe number of lubrication points, Allied employs"lifetime" lubed bushings in the boom base andtip of all cranes. Allied Cranes also undergostringent testing programs that meet and

exceed the highest industry standards. Inaddition, all Allied cranes are abrasive blasted

to near white metal and coated with multiplelayers of the toughest marine coating materialsavailable.
