DPDs for egamma performance: issues

• Performance DPDs will be very powerful tools to optimise overall reco and identification of electrons and photons with early data:

• access to data at Tier-2/3

• independent progress for different objects

• much more efficient feedback etc before reprocessing

• Issues raised during discussion:

• access to raw data: request from egamma would be eg that if 1000 Z to ee are collected in 2008 then raw data for these should be extracted (using eg Tags) from Tier-1’s and sent out to all sites requesting this

• caveat: need full DB replicas to be operational to reprocess!

• There is no real task required to run every 24h to

update any egamma-related constants (as yet)• There is one task which it would be highly desirable

to run in parallel to the ID alignment tasks every 24h to monitor the stability of the overall ATLAS reference frame: this is the ID versus EM calo alignment task (see talk by M. Soares following up on initial work done by R. Zitoun)

• This task will therefore most likely run in CAF as part of the fast-track tasks

Egamma CAF tasks: definition and scope

There are a number of tasks which require specific streams (electron/photon, express, minimum bias):• EM calorimeter and tracking performance for EM

objects in min. bias (0 to , to ee, EM energy flow)• Material in front of EM calorimeter,• Optimisation of trigger menus and selections for e/• Optimisation of selection cuts for e/• Efficiencies and fake rates for electrons,• Understanding measurement errors for e/ • EM calorimeter inter-calibration using Z to ee or E/p, • Linearity of response for electrons from J/ to Z mass
