CASTING OUR MUSIC VIDEO

Page 2: Casting our music video

We have been thinking about who we want to cast in our music video. After lots of

thought and consideration we have decided to go with girls for the dancers as there are a

lot more to choose from at school and we think that this

will look better.

We have been coming up with a list of characters/people that we need and have culminated

a list of potential people.

Mad Scientist – needs to be able to lip sync – adult male (teacher) – quirky vibe and lots of energy

Mike Niland, James Hartman and Andy Johnson

We have chosen these teachers as we think that they fit the kind of look that we want to create for this character

as well as the fact that we think that they would be able to do the job well and lip sync effectively. We think that these people have a good energy about them and we think that

the audience would be able to connect with and enjoy their performance.

HERE IS THE EMAIL I HAVE SENT TO THESE PEOPLE ASKING IF THEY ARE AVAILABLE TO AUDITION FOR THE MUSIC VIDEO.

DANCERS We need to cast 3 female dancers who are able to do a 1920’s routine which would include flapper/charlston style dancing and they also need to be able to dance in a hip-

hop/futuristic style which needs to be funky and cool. Ideally we would like the dancers to have a similar look in

terms of height and hair colour, however the main objective is to pick the best dancers who are able to dance well in

both of these styles.

DANCERS We are considering both A1 and A2 student

dancers and we are looking at dancers who are in the school dance company as well as dancers who attend the weekly classes as these will inevitably be the most advanced

dancers at school.

DANCERS We are thinking of Maddy Bowyer, Sally Waine and Megan MacKay who are A2 dance students and they are every advanced technically but they also have

good facial expression and are good performers and so would be able to attract and engage an audience.

In terms of A1 student dancers we are considering Oriana Pooles, Nandi Clarke, Elise Bugeja, Eden

Bowyer, Daisy Jelley, Cressida Taper, Emily Bryne, Honor Collins and Olivia Hartley as these girls are

very talented dancers and performers again and we think that they would be able to dance to both of these styles and we also think that they would be

able to dance well with the A2 students if they need to.

EMAIL BACK FROM DANCERS I have had some replies to the email from

people saying that they are interested and would like to take part. So we need to think of an audition time hen we can see their potential.

Unfortunately, some of the other dancers have responded to me and said that they are unable to take part and be in the video for various reasons.

MUSICIANS This is going to be the most difficult thing to cast as we are so

limited with our choices as there are only a few people or in some cases only 1 person at school who can play these

instruments. We need people who can actually play the instruments as this

is going to make the band look for effective and realistic. However, this does mean that we cannot choose a certain look

or style for the jazz bad as in some cases we just have to go with the one person at school who can play the required

instrument.

MUSICIANS We are going to ask Emily Hart if she will play the clarinet in

the video as she is the only student who plays this instrument ad she is very advanced.

We are going to ask Izzy Pelling is she will play the violin in our music video as she is again the only student who plays

this instrument and she is very talented. Unfortunately, both of these students have said that they

won’t be able to participate for different reasons and so we need to re-think who is going to be available for these roles.

MUSICIANS After getting some feedback from Luke we decided

that it was going to be very difficult to get hold of these musicians. Luke suggested that we use his friend for the double bass player and that we use Evelyn who is in our group as she is a very talented violinist. We are going to ask one of the students who plays the Clarinet whether they would be interested in taking part and then hopefully we will have our jazz band finalised.

CASTING I think that we have chosen some very strong

candidates to be in our music video and hopefully when we audition them we see a

lot of potential and we find a very good cast. The next stage is auditioning them and seeing what they are able to do and then

from this audition process we will be able to select our cast.
