Do you have issues with the mysteries of public liability insurance. Do you hold community events and partner with other or multiple clubs or groups without insurance? Do you know where you stand with responsibility if something hap-pens to a volunteer? Want clarification! Presenter: Aileen McNeil – Account Executive at Jardine Lloyd Thompson and Certi-fied Insurance Professional of the Australian and N ew Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance (ANZIIF) working in public se ctor insurance since 2002, and assisting community groups with insurance since 2008.

The forum will look at a number of hypothetical cas e studies. This will as-sist as a practical way to clarify where exposures might lie, what classes of coverage are available for those exposures and w ho is the responsible party to insure each exposure (and why).

Cassowary Coast Regional Council implements a permit system for events and activities on Council controlled land both for commercial and community

Not For Profit activities.

If you have an existing or are proposed a community event on council controlled land, please check with Council officers to ensure that permit applications and or approvals are in place.

You will be required to be an incorporated organisation or be auspiced by one and will need to provide as per the application:

• Evidence of current public liability insurance

• Event management plan including a Risk management plan

• A site map plan of activity area

What is the Regional Arts Development Fund?

The Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF) is a partnership between state and local governments which invests in quality arts and cultural experiences across Queensland based on locally determined priorities.

RADF 2015-16 promotes the role and value of arts, culture and heritage as key drivers to: support diversity and inclusivi-ty; grow strong regions; and provide training, education and employment opportunities for Queensland artists and local communities.

From 2015, Councils will deliver locally tailored RADF programs based on the identified priorities, opportunities and ca-pacities of their local communities. This means that RADF may look different place to place as to best respond to the ways of working and aspirations of local communities.

What are the acknowledgment, reporting and acquittal processes for RADF 2015-16?

All RADF 2015-16 funded activities are required to complete a Project Outcome Report. This will be provided to you by Cassowary Coast Regional Council. The Project Outcome Report includes information about the success of your project, budget and support material which are required to be submitted to Cassowary Coast Regional Council within 8 weeks of the completion of your project.

RADF 2015-16 funded activities must acknowledge the Queensland Government and the Council in all promotional ma-terial, publications and products by inclusion of the RADF 2015-16 acknowledgment text and logos - as provided to you by Cassowary Coast Regional Council.

MASTER OF FINE ARTS (CULTURAL LEADERSHIP)

Are you an ambitious arts or creative practitioner, manager, policy maker or facilitator with a vision to make a difference in the arts and cultural sectors? Then this new course could be the opportunity that en-ables you to realise that goal.

The new NIDA Master of Fine Arts (Cultural Leadership) is a landmark graduate course that will play a pivotal role in enhancing the leadership capacity of mid-career practitioners within the arts and creative industries sector, providing a focus of learning and research for the cultural sector as a whole.

The course will be directed by NIDA’s recently appointed Chair of Cultural Leadership, Robyn Archer. Robyn Archer is one of Australia’s iconic cultural leaders – a singer, performer, writer, artistic director and public advocate for the arts. Robyn will bring her extraordinary wealth of knowledge and experience of the arts and culture internationally to the course, as well facilitating the involvement of many other outstanding practitioners from her vast network.

The course assumes a level of knowledge and experience of management, and focuses exclusively on the broad contemporary issues of arts and cultural leadership – how is public policy impacting the sector, how will artists and organsations transform themselves to be sustainable into the future, and what leader-ship skills and governance frameworks are required to achieve this continuous evolution?

As well as exploring these issues, every student will be financially supported by NIDA to have the oppor-tunity to undertake a placement of up to 4 weeks with an international organisation as the capstone of their learning.

The course will be offered part-time to facilitate the involvement of busy professionals, and can be com-pleted in that part-time mode in two and a half years. Most subjects will be taught in intensive week-long and weekend workshops, supplemented by online learning making it possible for students not resident in Sydney to enrol.

Selection for this course is highly competitive. Through the generous support of the Federal Government Ministry for the Arts, all selected students in the initial 2016 cohort will receive a Fellowship to assist with the cost of the course fees. At least one full Fellowship will be offered to an Indigenous applicant.

Arts Queensland has been contacted with a request to pro-

ac�vely promote to our networks to consider applica�on to the Master of Fine Arts, Cul-

tural Leadership course and scholarships through the Na�onal Ins�tute of Drama�c Art

(NIDA). This is a 30 month part-�me course delivered through NIDA’s new Graduate School

which opens on November 19th.

Addi�onal to Commonwealth support for scholarships, there is also one full scholarship

available for an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander par�cipant.
