History of Rakkestad waste to energy
Building the new system for recovery of
energy from waste, the company
Østfold Energi uses household and
industrial waste for steam production,
which is delivered to 3 major
companies in the region. The system is
build as a 4 MW Steam plant, with a
yearly combustion of approximately
10.000 Ton mixed household and
industrial waste.
The Rakkestad plant has a maximum
effect of 4.2 MW and approximately
7500 operation hours a year.
Since the commissioning in December 2005, the combustion plant has worked faultlessly and
continuously delivered approximately 30 GMh a year.
One of the major advantages of the Weiss system is, that the operation is fully automatic and only
manned in the day time. During weekends the system is unstaffed which results in substantial savings
relating to resources.
The combustion system has an advanced cleaning system, which ensures that the demands in the EU
Waste Incineration directive as well as the national demands easily are kept.
Whereas, Waste or Biomass based fuel are used for generation of Thermal heating / Power generation
– the cost savings on fossil fuel are tremendous, and one of the great benefits are to be independent of
the volatility of the energy prices.
The
investment pays off in a few years --- the profit will hereafter grow.

Green energy – environment
Burning waste products instead of
stowing it, the energy is recovered
and converted to energy. Thereby
a double climate effect is
obtained, since the production of
energy from bi-product results in
not only a substantial reduction of
the consumption of fossil fuel, but
also a reduction of the CO2
emissions.
The flue gas is cleaned by the
latest technique in filter systems.
WEISS fulfill all national and local
emissions requirements
WEISS Range of boiler capacity
Thermal Energy : 2MW – 4MW – 8MW – 15MW
Steam pleasure : from 10 to 40 Barg.
Electric generation : From 0.5 MWe to 3,6 MWe
Proven technique.
WEISS Biomass Boiler plants only use well proven Technologies and
components. It’s your guarantee for a durable system with unexpected
shutdowns` and unforeseen expenses.
WEISS biomass boiler plants has very low maintenance requirements, and
are full automatic operated – Which result in lower labor cost.
