The client is an innovative pacesetter and has powered the UAE to be one of the top 10 nations in the world in terms of the availability of new technologies, through its support and strategic vision of a number of government initiatives. With a market value of over USD 20 billion , this blue chip organization has operations in more than 18 countries and employees nearly 42,000 people in the Middle East, Africa and Asia. The client was responding to new market pressure and customer needs. The business as a whole was striving to improve the quality of its services and had set aggressive targets for the progress. Controlling costs and ensuring efficiency were key to its goal of advancing its competitive position. As office printing and copying functions formed a major part of the flow of information between colleagues, customers, partners and vendors, the client decided to improve this critical business function. Solutions Offered HCL along with Xerox partnered with the client to offer print and imaging services across the enterprise, covering client's head office and other offices wherever office printing and copying functions took place. HCL worked with the client's IT team and met different section secretaries to understand their priorities and affect a plan to realize the improvements needed. The initial focus was a review of the client's large fleet of office printing, scanning, and copying devices. Secure and Environmentally Sound Solutions After thorough assessment of the document driven process and identifying ways to help the end users work more securely and efficiently, HCL divided the solutions implementation in two phases. A key component of the plan involved the replacement of older, inefficient devices with state-of-the-art, networked multifunction systems. In Phase 1 HCL offered solutions to the client's head office employees to work more securely and efficiently. Some of the highlights included - HCL worked with the client in a number of areas to support their mission-critical print requirements and, helped them reduce cost, improved efficiency and productivity. Installation of Multi-function devices (MFD) for users' print, scan, fax and copy requirements On-site Real-time monitoring of all the devices and for proactive resolution of issues. This system was further integrated with customer care center for monitoring and dispatching the consumable before it got over Deployment of high availability solution In Phase II, the print solutions were extended to the other tower buildings. Mobile Print Solutions were offered to mobile users for printing using their handheld devices. The other enterprise services offered included implementation of state-of-the-art networked multifunction systems with built-in information security features and advanced reporting capabilities for monitoring. HCL also deployed a series of innovative solutions such as letterhead printing using Virtual stationery printing solution thereby eliminating the need for an external vendor 3.
