Case Study - IT Leadership Programme for Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust, delivered by Ian Pettigrew (Kingfisher Coaching) Why was the programme run? Salford Royal had a number of IT leaders who had received support to develop their technical skills, but were now at a point in their career where they needed to further develop their leadership skills. The IT Leadership Programme was ini@ated ‘to equip leaders with the non-technical skills they need to lead effec@vely; to set direc@on, and to get the best out of themselves and their teams.’ Approach: The programme was designed not as a ‘training course’, but as an opportunity for the group to be empowered to learn and grow together, and to grow as a team. As prepara@on, all par@cipants completed the ‘Full 34’ Gallup CliMon StrengthsFinder assessment which reveals their complete strengths profile and shows the rela@ve dominance of each of 34 talent themes. All par@cipants used the NHS Leadership Academy Healthcare leadership model 360 degree feedback tool to gather feedback from their manager and a range of peers, direct reports, and stakeholders. The resul@ng feedback was delivered during a facilitated session which established a solid founda@on for the programme as it provided par@cipants with a view on who they are (and how they succeed) along with a very honest perspec@ve on their performance. 1
