APPENDIX Indian retail industry is estimated to be worth over $500 billion (one of the world's top 5 markets)—70% is food and grocery segment -- and 30-40% of the businesses will be in the online retail space over the next 7 years. According to industry reports and sources, this market is set to hit 10 billion USD by 2020, if not earlier, and 50 per cent of that is set to be centered around Mumbai, Bengaluru, Pune, Hyderabad, Chennai, NCR-Delhi and Kolkata. These cities account for nearly 60 per cent of the total Internet penetration into the country. Competition is catching up faster than fire. The numbers of online food and grocery retail outlets have increased to 44 so far in September, 2014 from 14 in 2013. A Survey was conducted among people who are using online medium for buying groceries. Following are the Insights from the survey:-. 1.     consumers who are above 24 year of age

    3. Things bought by men online :- Edible Oils, Rice, Atta, Lentils &Dals,

    Soaps & Sanitizers, Snacks, Antiperspirants & Deodorants,Shaving Products,

    Ready to Eat, and Biscuits & Cookie

    a. Average value of Shopping bag :- Rs 580

    4. Things bought by women online:-Oral Care, Hair Care & Styling,

    Bread, Crackers & Bakery, Face Cleansers & Moisturizers, and Feminine

    Needs.

    a. Average value of Shopping bag :- Rs 552

    5. Ordering schedule across the entire day is fairly well spread out, exceptbetween 12 AM at night and 6 AM in themorning, when ordering is not very significant.Most orders (30%) have been observed to takeplace between 6 AM and 12 PM.
