Carson Wentz, QB - North Dakota State

1
CARSON WENTZ, NDSU Quarterback #11. Carson Wentz is a starting Senior Quarterback at North Dakota State University. Wentz is very athletic and compares to Andrew Luck in size. Stands tall in pocket. Tough, able to stand and deliver the ball with accuracy knowing he’ll get hit. Quick sharp release with a tight spiral. He has good footwork in the pocket, but inconsistent. Will stand like a statue at times, which can cause his throws to be inaccurate. Has a strong arm and very accurate. Short and long accuracy combined over 75%. Breadbasket deep balls. Accuracy on the move is also over 75%. Wentz is mobile and has good speed to escape pressure and scramble for positive yards. Rushed 63 times, 294 yards, and 6 TDs in 2015. If he continues to rush 5, 10, 15 times/game, he’ll take a beating. Very good at reading defenses and going through progressions. Constantly makes big plays and converts on important downs, 58% conversion rate. Since he played at a lower level school, question remains on how he will adapt to the highest level of competition. Could potentially start right away, but it would be ideal to have him sit a year or two to learn and adapt.
