2010

Small changes can add up to a big difference, so we’ve made a few small changes to our program guides, which all add up to big difference to the environment.

Fewer trees: we’re saving trees by reducing the number of pages in our guides and using recycled paper from sustainable forests.

Easier to recycle: gloss paper is harder to recycle, so we’ve switched from a gloss to a matte

cover to make our guides better for recycling.

Less energy: our guides are now cold-set printed, which means the ink dries naturally instead of under energy intensive heaters.

Less chemicals: by using eco-friendly soy ink, fewer chemicals are needed to print our program guides.

Doing our part to green Carol Stream

cut the chemicalsMany windshield de-icers contain harmful chemicals such as chlorine or gylcerol, so cut

the chemicals by filling a spray bottle with three parts white vinegar, one part water as an

alternative de-icer.

Blanket your a/cThrow a cover on your outdoor air conditioning unit during the winter months, this will

help stop warm air escaping from your home and help reduce your heating bill.

change your filterMake sure you change the filter in your furnace every month, this not only means a

healthier home but helps your furnace run more efficiently.

Swim LessonsThe Bartlett Park District’s swim lesson program is for swimmers of all ages. On the first day of lessons parents will receive a parent manual which explains each of the levels in depth, and gives information on each specific level. Due to the limited amount of space on our pool deck, parents will be asked to sit either in the bleachers or viewing area. For those who have already been in our swim lesson program, please sign your child up for lessons according to a previous swim lesson report card.

Before registering for a swim lesson, review your child’s previous lesson history and age limitations of class. Classes fill quickly and transferring from one level to another is not always possible. If you have questions, please ask at the Registration Desk. Registration will close three days prior to the start of the class. Please note time and dates of your lesson. No refunds or make-ups will be given for classes missed or forgotten. The park district reserves the right to combine class levels if deemed appropriate.

What to bring• Swim suit already on child• Towel• Report Card from previous session

What not to bring• Swimming aids such as lifejackets, water wings or

flippers• Snorkel masks that cover the nose

On the first day…Please arrive 15 minutes early for first day check-in. Guardians may either wait for their swimmers in the bleachers or the viewing room. It is important to keep the pool deck clear so the instructor can have your swimmer’s full attention during the class time. Please stay for the entire swimmer’s class, in case of emergency where consent is required.
