2nd Sunday of Lent

On the Mount of the Transfiguration, Jesus is revealed to his disciples

as God’s beloved Son. In our Scriptures today, Jesus is revealed as God’s beloved Son, and Paul writes that the risen Jesus will indeed intercede for us. What gifts we are given! Let us, then, act in the world as God’s children and be his instruments for building the Kingdom on earth.

An Act of Spiritual Communion Prayer My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen.

Amen.

Reminder

Un mot de

rappel

In his recent encyclical, Fratelli Tutti, Pope Francis calls upon us to live the love that would make us “one great family,

where all of us can feel at home”; a love that “exudes compassion and dignity.” (Fratelli Tutti, 62.)

With the entire human family suffering from COVID-19, the Share Lent campaign invites us to share love and express solidarity with our sisters and brothers in the Global South, whose vulnerabilities are being exacerbated by the pandemic.

Remembering the inherent dignity of all human beings, let us heed the Pope’s reminder that “justice and solidarity, are not achieved once and for all; they have to be realized each day.” (Fratelli Tutti, 11.)

Share Love, Share Lent: Strengthening vulnerable communities. Did you know that Development and Peace supports a school for peasant filmmakers in Colombia? This week in the Share Love, Share Lent campaign, discover the creative ways in which we assist communities in speaking for and taking charge of their own development. In keeping with the Catholic Social Teaching principle of participation, let your Lenten journey make a difference in the world. Learn about our work and consider giving to help sustain it. Discern and donate at devp.org/lent.

Salt+Light TV has produced Yes, Lord, a children’s liturgy that began airing Friday Feb. 19. Yes, Lord is a liturgy of the word designed for kids. It is broadcasting on weekends throughout Lent on

Salt + Light TV, its website (slmedia.org) and the Salt and Light Media YouTube channel.

Animated characters and the words of readings and songs scrolling across the screen make it easy for kids to follow along, sing along and practice their reading. The first reading and Gospel each week are taken from the Sunday Mass, so that kids are praying along with the whole Church. But by making it a liturgy of the word, the 20-minute show is free to tailor its prayers and activities to the target audience of five- to 10-year-olds.

Until further notice the Parish office is closed to the public.

You can still call for information, drop off mail in our secure mail slot at the office door and

schedule masses over the phone.

Attention : Interlocking brick is never salted or shovelled. Please use the cross walk. Thank You.

Message by Pope Francis for Lent 2021

The 2021 Message of Pope Francis for Lent is titled “ ‘Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem’ (Mt 20:18), Lent: a Time for Renewing Faith, Hope and Love”. In his message, the Holy Father writes: “In our Lenten journey towards Easter, let us remember the One who ‘humbled himself and became obedient unto death, even death on a cross’ (Phil 2:8). During this season of conversion, let us renew our faith, draw from the ‘living water’ of hope, and receive with open hearts the love of God, who makes us brothers and sisters in Christ.” To read Pope Francis’ complete message go to the following link: http://www.vatican.va/content/francesco/en/messages/lent/
