Getting Started with Qualtrics

Qualtrics Sign-up
Go to Qualtrics.com and click on “free account”
Qualtrics Account Name & Password
• Provide a verification email (must be a working address) and a password
Qualtrics Home Screen
• After you verify your account with the email link, go to the home screen and click “Create Survey”
3 methods of starting new surveyLower left: Create from copy;
easy way to make multiple versions of a survey with slight differences (such as a treatment)
Lower right: Library of existing templates
Upper: Quick survey builder; like a wizard; we will use this
Create a new question
Survey editing dashboard:Large lower left pane
for editing question content
Mid-page toolbar for functions that cover the survey as a whole
Top-page toolbar (blue tabs) for account-level functions
Editing question text & response options
Click to type in the question stem
Then add two or more response options
Notice the formatting control options in the right hand pane
Text is saved as you click away; options are saved immediately
Preview your work
Click at anytime to preview what you have created so far
Preview pops up in a new browserwindow
Test frequently toensure you are getting whatyou want
Now do some experiments
Try having a question that allows multiple answer selections
Try using branchingTry creating a Likert-
type question with a multi-point rating scale
Can you create a “bank” of Likert-type questions that is compact?
