The Hartford Consortium for Higher Education has long been committed to working to address equitable

access to higher education and transition to college through the efforts of the Career Beginnings

Program. One barrier to even having college aspirations, not to mention going to college and

successfully completing is the perception that college is unaffordable.

College is expensive but there are steps students can take to reduce costs and increase the affordability

of a college degree. One important step is to apply for as many scholarships as you can. You may find

yourself eligible for more scholarships than you think – they are not just for top students. To that end,

the Career Beginnings Program has compiled a list of scholarships for which students enrolled in the

program may be eligible. Remember, each dollar of scholarship aid is a dollar that you don’t have to pay

or borrow!

In this booklet, you will find a brief description of each scholarship, along with contact information

and/or links that will direct you to the actual scholarship website and application. This information can

also be found in the Career Beginnings Scholarship database, located at www.careerbeginningsct.org.

Please note that the Information contained in this booklet is subject to change. We encourage you to

check the specific scholarship website for the most current information.
