Aero Update

This year Cardiff Racing will once again be present at EESW Big Bang Event at Celtic Manor on the 16th of March. To view students from across wales presenting the engineering projects that they’ve been working on for the past few months. Our team will be present with our simulator and 3D printer as well as some hands on items to represent our university and team. We hope to inspire many young engineers with our display. Please come and see us if you are about.

See you at the fair

As the best car at Silverstone in 2014 without an aero package, we have dedicated a team of our final year students to see whether adding an aerodynamic package would be justifiable. Here is a sneak preview of some of the things they have been up to recently. All dragons needs wings right?

Slow and steady progressEven over the Christmas holidays and January exams, work has continued –albeit at a slower pace. Our space frame is now almost completed and hopes to improve on last years design in terms of geometry and weight saving. We have also had some help from our sponsors SKF in the form of our bearing delivery, and Guardian Global Technologies for manufacturing both some chassis inserts and our nosecone mould. A massive thank you for the help!

In other news, we have started playing with some National Instruments MyRio’sto help with our data acquisition – again a great thank you from the whole team for the support.Pace should pick up now, with more hands on deck, and European events to apply and ready for this summer.
