Reducing our impact on the environment

The ability to hop on a plane and reach Edinburgh, New York or Tokyo in a matter of hours is something many of us take for granted, but aviation emissions contribute to climate change, and scientists say we need to do more to tackle the problem. While the greenest thing to do would be not to fly at all, this isn’t always possible – especially when it comes to business. We know that often contracts need to be signed in person, clients need to be met face-to-face, and sometimes, the only way to familiarise yourself with a new market is to explore the area yourself.

Carbon reporting & offsetting

Carbon offsetting

Carbon offsetting is a set of activities that you can engage in, individually or as a business, to compensate for the carbon emissions you release into the environment by funding the equivalent amount of carbon dioxide reduction elsewhere in the world. While the direct impact of these activities often isn’t felt within your local area, these projects strive to balance out the global effects of carbon emissions

When running a business travel programme costs can be a major concern, however – while the cost of offsetting carbon varies dependent on modes of travel, routes, carrier and aircraft – common flight route offset costs range from £0.30 for a London to Paris route to £4.90 for a flight from London to Johannesburg, meaning carbon offsetting can account for as little as 0.25% of your travel spend.

There are however ways in which we can still travel whilst reducing our impact on the environment:

Carbon reporting

Using calculations (based on route, carrier, travel type and travel class) from our sustainability partner, Susterra, we provide clients with an in-depth analysis on the CO² emissions generated from their travel programme. We also highlight areas where journeys with a smaller

footprint could be made, giving you the ability to reduce your

impact on the environment without impeding your

ability to do business.

Our partner organisation Susterra report on your carbon footprint and help you analyse the results

Setting targets to reduce your carbon footprint

You can then oset your remaining pollution

By funding the Karnataka windfarm in southern India a UNFCCC backed project

And creating environmentaly friendly employment

Based on these results clients can request analysis from Susterra to reduce their emissions by changing traveller behaviour, such as…
