As found on Wikipedia, a capstone is literally, “one of the finishing or protective stones that form the top of an exterior masonry wall or building.”

WHAT IS A CAPSTONE?


WHAT IS A CAPSTONE PROJECT?For DDBC, it’s an opportunity…

• to apply what you have learned• to create a final project that shows how you are integrating technology in your ministry It will be…• your “crowning achievement, point, element, or event.” • “the final stroke; the culmination or acme”

Three Phases

Phase I – ProposalProposal Deadline: May 19, 2016In your project goals, please

include a statement that is focused on the use of technology to

enhance the building of community in your school or parish.

We are about showing how digital tools can be part of building and

developing a community of believers.


Example of a Proposal


• Two month period to complete your project

• Projects should be implemented between May 19 – July 15, 2016

Phase II – Implementation Deadline: July 15, 2016


• Limit your project to TWO MONTHS

• Creatively engage your audience• Use social media • Refer to the RUBRICS often• Consult with your mentor as

needed• Be flexible and make adjustments

as needed• Pace yourself to finish ON TIME• Written work will follow!

Suggestions


Write a 500 word essay summarizing your DDBC experience and how you plan to apply what you learned to your ministry. Demonstrate how you have applied your understanding of the ISTE Standards for Teachers and applied them to a faith learning environment. Include reference to relevant research about technology and learning, especially as applied to faith settings, if appropriate.

Phase III Essay

Deadline: July 29, 2016


Write an article for publication that would tell the story of your final project so that others could learn and apply what you did to their own parish or school setting.

Complete your application and pay the fee for your CEU’s with the University of Dayton

Sr. Caroline will send you the paperwork for the CEU Application.
