MEDIA AND ENTERTAINMENT Firefly was founded in 2002 in Hyderabad by Phani Eggone, Sanath PC & Nagesh HN – graduates of National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad - to provide digital visual effects for Indian feature films. Firefly's credits include major Visual Effects-intensive feature films such as Anji (2004), Arundhati (2007), Magadheera (2009), Enthiran/Robot (2010), Anaganaga O Dheerudu (2011), Bhaag Milkha Bhaag (2013), Kayal (2014) and Baahubali The Beginning (2015). On a massive show like Baahubali, it is almost impossible to define the visual effects requirements as asset- based or simulations-based or animation-based... everything is needed! That is when the value of an end-to end class of products like Autodesk's shines through. Their outstanding set of features, usability, constant evolution, interoperability and support enables artists to focus on artistic complexity; and the technically oriented crew to customize & extend the possibilities. Therefore it is not surprising that on shows with such high stakes as this, Autodesk's range of products continue to be an integral part of a studio's pipe. Dramatic re-creation of the 2004 tsunami. Accurate geography - Ultra-large scale water simulation - Limited time - Miniscule budget; These were the key challenges we took up for the Tamil movie 'Kayal' in 2014. During late stages of our testing, we learnt about the impending beta release of Autodesk's BiFrost and opted in for trials. We were literally blown away! BiFrost was faster & better than anything else we had tested until then. It had known release limitations, but against all advice, we went into production with it.
