Austerity, racism and war. That’s what

capitalism means for ordinary people across the globe. Meanwhile the “Panama Papers” expose how the rich and powerful conceal their wealth.

The West and Russia spend billions waging yet more wars in the Middle East while those who flee the devastation as refugees are left to drown, or are herded into refugee camps.

The case for an alternative to this rotten system couldn’t be stronger.

In Britain cuts and austerity mean misery for ordinary people. But the Tories are in crisis. Resignations and splits over the EU referendum make them vulnerable.

The steel crisis and junior doctors’ strikes highlight why we need an alternative.

The whole movement has been lifted by the election of Jeremy Corbyn as Labour leader.

But it’s a long way until the next general election in 2020. And even if elected a Labour government will face the same pressures Syriza did in Greece.

Is a socialist alternative to capitalism possible? And if it is how can socialism be achieved?

Is parliament the place where power lies or does the power to bring about a socialist society really lie in workplaces, colleges and working class communities?
