System purpose
3
Railways Automobile roads Countryside
System is designed to provide GSM 900 mobile network coverage for
remote territories, automobile roads, or railways where the
installation of traditional GSM base stations is not feasible due to
small mobile traffic.
Various configurations of mobile networks for

Capacity Transfer
Technology
1 base station and
3 CTRs
Capacity Transfer Repeaters (CTR) are designed to replace base stations of a cellular network without loss of service area and network capacity. CTRs need no radio relay or optic feed lines.

Network capacity transfer technology
System allows sequent retransmission of RF signals
between base station (BTS) and user’s mobile stations.
It can be connected to a standard equipment of any
vendor at a GSM site. The system retransmits and
distributes up to six GSM carrier frequencies (TRX)
over a target area (from 1 to 3 hops of retransmission
without relay systems).
Converter is to be mounted near a GSM base station.
Converter converts BTS’ carrier frequencies
(TRX3..TR6) to retransmission bandwidth (X3..X6), and
then transmits them to the repeater (CTR).
Repeater on the opposite side amplifies and retransmits
the signal, and also converts the signal back to GSM
bandwidth providing further coverage with 2 sectors
similar to the base station (1 GSM carrier in each
sector).
Converter (CVR) – converts TRX of BTS from 900 MHz (GSM) to 6 GHz bandwidth
Repeater (CTR) – unit with double-side duplex retransmission, 2 TRX GSM 900

RAN sharing
7
The system is compatible with the base stations of any vendor, and this allows implementing network
capacity transfer for several mobile operators simultaneously (e.g. for 2 operators).
• For each of the operators the system allows the replacement of 6 GSM base stations and 6 radio
relay lines by 6 jointly used repeaters.
• The system reduces the number of towers and sites by 2
• The system reduces site’s power consumption by 2-3 times
• An operator can use light-weight towers
RAN sharing example
8
Operator 1 Operator 2 RAN sharing
The installation of the network capacity transfer repeaters (CTR) which are shared by 2
operators using the towers of each operator allows reducing the number of base stations, and
ensures the coverage of much more area and network capacity increase.

RAN Sharing
RAN sharing for 2 operators: • Each operator provides 3 TRXs • GSM signals of each operator are coming from CTR
output to dual polarized service antennas through splitters providing shared coverage over a specific territory

Production
11
Full scale serial production of the Capacity
Transfer System is organized at IRZ, Izhevsk,
Russia.
Benefits
12
Reduction of CAPEX and OPEX costs (comparing to a
traditional method of GSM coverage) calculated for a specific
territory
Reduction of power cost at a site from 1.5-2 kW (for a
traditional equipment) to 0.36 kW with the same coverage area
and network capacity
Reduction of connection interruptions due to failed handovers
(the length of a connection zone of one base station equipped
with the system can be increased by 4-6 times)
Mobile network coverage in tunnels and closed premises
without fiber optic equipment
Reduction of costs of mobile operators due to simultaneous
operation of the system by 2 or 3 operators (RAN-sharing)
without loss in quality of services and network coverage
