Recent changes to the Health and Safety in Employment (Petroleum Exploration and Extraction) Regulations seek to ensure that health and safety regulation of petroleum exploration and extraction activities ( both onshore and offshore) are more consistent with best practice in the industry, these changes included;.

A safety case regime for onshore and offshore installations

Major accident prevention policy

Goal setting regulations to cover activities over the full life cycle of wells

A well examination scheme

Notification and reporting of dangerous occurrences The objective of these changes is to strengthen the management of hazards having the potential to cause multiple fatalities (a major accident). This includes a reduction in the likelihood of an uncontrolled release of oil and gas and ensures the client has sufficient data to have certainty that they are taking all practicable steps to protect themselves and others from preventable incidents.

Plant & Platform has the capability and expertise to assist your business in meeting and exceeding your obligations and to ensure compliance with these updated regulations. In conjunction with CGE Risk, P&P is also able to offer Bowtie (XP) analysis capability to further enhance control of risks and threats to your business. Bowtie analysis is the best tool to visualise and communicate your risk management. A basic Safety Case utilising the Bowtie XP Software solution is available now for review and discussion.
