Caojingyi

This is a story about a girl who likes eating up umbrellas. I didn’t take good care of my umbrellas and they’re likely to be lost. Moreover, the umbrellas of many people disappeared without any reason, so I guessed whether there would be someone who likes eating up umbrellas. The guess result falls on the girl who loves rainy days. Thus she can take the chance to eat up many umbrellas. The flavors of different umbrellas vary from each other. The umbrellas of people in love taste sweet while the ones of unhappy people give bitter flavors. She collects various umbrellas, in the hope of growing up more umbrellas if she plants one. The ending of story: she dreams of the umbrella she has planted turning into a tree.

Exploration process: I create special character-a moon of two faces. Intriguingly, two faces represent two different personalities, one of which is sleeping while the other is awake. I never try to make a prolonged and amorous book. And the book cover is finally made of propylene excluding previously used materials. The draft book is a piece of black and white works drawn by the charcoal pencil. However, watercolor is more of expressive force compared with the oil painting sticks.

The idea derives from my daily sketching. I want to keep memories in my mind so I draw a lot of pictures of my near-by friends. The life will become quite interesting and extraordinary if we put life segments together.I cut down all the head portraits drawn by myself and made them into a collage, which display like playing a chess-board game. What I want to tell through the collage is that life is a game, and we should add more fun into our lives. Each challenging section of life game is a scene of our daily lives. Taking the one who is cooking as an example, it says: we can’t disappoint love and delicacies. Therefore it intends to tell people who enjoy life that life happiness can be easily experienced through a meal of delicacies. The conclusion of chess game: the chess game will be bound to end up, hardly will the life. Treasure life form now on.Exploration process: we make the manual soil chess pieces which are lightly sticky in the image of dwarf characters, in order to increase the recreation effects.

Ocean,hairThe group of pictures derives from my self-portraits, full of my own individu-alities, like my desired blondes, ocean, sunken ship, marine city, seaweed and seashell. Also, the hairs floating in the sea are the ambulatory lines.

Exploration Process: I adopt the combination of watercolor and gouache. The transparency of watercolor reflects the texture of water and the opacity of gouache reflects material of marine creatures.

Information TimesTwo pieces of works in white and black intend to convey the same theme: the Harm of Information Times. The first picture: the top left corner is a cell phone, whose headphone cables tangle the middle person. The person grows on the mouse like a tree, and the tangled cables are gruesome snakes. The second picture: The human brain fulfills up in a mess, and the right face wears two different masks. It can be recognized that the broken keyboard, computer cables, and junk information pieces cause burdens to human.

Exploration Process: my thinking idea comes from the phenomenon that there are 87% passengers indulging in electronic devices.

Time Machine

Time is a relative concept, the evolution of which will be presented with the principle of trotting horse lamp. The trotting horse lamps are folk lanterns of Chinese characteristics. The air heated by candles rotate the lampshade, thus the pictures of lampshade turn around in display. The candle light represents the moving force of life and power. The paper-cuts made in the old film style and sticky on the lampshade show the evolution process from infancy to seniority. Exploration Process: The primary attempt is the glasses, in the application of polygon prism. It can’t work well. Therefore, we develop the idea in the new form of rotating fire light, and also we achieve the exploration of time equipment.
