“My last year at Canyonville changed
my life. I learned more about God and
more about myself than at any other
time. Even to this day I find myself
drawing on the lessons learned and
the experiences that I encountered that
fateful year.”
Canyonville Christian Academy’s
international boarding school
program is tailored for many
international students whose
goal is to matriculate into a
good four-year university.
Students who need extra
help in English can take
advantage of ESL level
classes before moving

Recent College Choices of the past few years
Nestled in the very center of Canyonville,
Oregon is the campus of Canyonville
Christian Academy. Canyon Creek
meanders through the city, much of it
flows through the campus of CCA where
large salmon spawn in the spring. The
girl’s dormitory was the first buidling built
as the school was started. Hinn House
stands as a very recognizable landmark
in the city of Canyonville.

Canyonville Christian Academy students of the Seminar class finished first in the 2014 national stock market
game (Capitol Hill Challenge) and qualified for an all expense paid trip to Washington, D.C.This 14 week contest ended May 9 and included over 4,200 teams involving 15,000+ students. The on-line investing competition uses real-time stock prices and is sponsored by the Securities Industry Financial Markets Association (SIFMA), the national organization representing
the financial industry. In the game, the winning team had a $100,000 starting position which they were able to increase by over 85% in three months. Prior Canyonville Christian Academy teams have finished in the top 10 in the national competition eight times since 2010, including this win, a second place, and two third place finishes. This class also won a separate 2014 competition for Oregon high schools with entries sweeping the first four places.

When we talk about “private schools” we are usually talking about grade schools or high schools for young people in their teens. The latter include neighborhood
places of learning, founded by churches, secular, so called, “magnet schools” for gifted children, and finally boarding schools with years of tradition and experience. It is very difficult to generalize about this issue because most of the pros and cons depend on the particular school in question. In general, when looking for a good school, you will want one with a long history. This will assure you that the school has institutional memory or experience in dealing with academic, social, financial and discipline needs of its students. Simply put, a school that has been in business for a long time is usually a safe bet. In this business, you are only as good as your last year. The exception to this are schools that are subsidized by churches or church organizations and not dependent on students and parents for their budget.
“When looking for a good school, you will want one with a long
history.”
Advantages of a Private Boarding School
1The student will likely get a better education. This is no small point. After all, this is the purpose of school. Compared to the
public school system in the United States and in many countries abroad, a private school education is far superior.
2 The student will mature more rapidly.Students attending boarding schools, in particular, will learn how to clean their
rooms, take care of their own laundry, and be forced to deal with personal conflicts in a way that can never be learned in the protective shell of home. Some of the world’s greatest leaders, sports stars and entertainment figures had a boarding school educa-tion. This includes numerous American presidents, European Kings and Queens and British Prime Minister, Winston Churchill.
3 Private schools have better discipline.Public schools are forced by law to
accept all children in their geographical areas and are government funded based on the number of students in attendance. This makes expelling a student both difficult and expensive. In a private school the reverse is the case. A troublesome student upsets teachers and fellow students. Parents are suddenly involved. They have paid money for their son or daughter to attend the school in question and they will become more insistent in assuring that their child cooperate to avoid expulsion.
4 Students from private schools are more likely to graduate from a university and with better grades.
Again, nothing can be assumed and much depends on the particular school you attend but in general, private school students are more likely to advance their education at the university level. This is often because they are forced to develop study habits in the private school setting, especially at the boarding school where peer pressure and dorm rules require completion of home work.
Canyonville Christian Academy has educated and been a home away from home for students
from 56 countries around the world!
Instructors at Canyonville go the extra mile
when it comes to teaching our next generation
of leaders. From reenacting events from
American history to studying the anatomy
of various types of animals and even using
Calculus to build three dimensional models,
these are teachers who love to teach. The
impact of their skills is felt by the student who
goes on to a successful university career.

Activities make life more exciting at CCA
2 It is our objective to encourage all
students to achieve their full potential. CCA offers a distinctly Christian education in a standard classroom set-ting. The curriculum in-cludes all state required courses for graduation as well as Advanced Placement courses for the college-bound student and those with special interests.
3In sports, our goal is to provide athletic
opportunities for every student who has the de-sire to compete, and to help those individuals achieve their potential. CCA fields teams in cross country, soccer, volleyball, basketball, cheerleading, track and field and tennis and is a member of the 280 school Oregon School Activities Association (OSAA).
4Because CCA wants each school
year to be memorable, we endeavor to provide a full calendar of social, cultural and recreational events.
1 CCA is located in scenic southern
Oregon in the city of Canyonville on a 14 acre campus. There are 12 main buildings includ-ing a chapel, audito-rium, student gaming center, gymnasium, 2 boys and one girls dor-mitory, science lab, art building, cafeteria and student lounge.
