    Dear Canyon View Families,

Like you, our priority is your childs safety from the moment they leave your home in the morning until they re-turn safely that afternoon. This can be best achieved through a collaborative effort. You can help by discussing afew simple but effective precautions with your child concerning their time away from home.

    BUS STOP GUIDELINES

The safety and welfare of students waiting at bus stops is the responsibility of parents. The schools want to as-sist parents and students by requesting that student riders comply with the specific expectations listed below.School administrators have the flexibility to determine consequences for student misbehavior at the bus stopand/or compliance of these expectations. All of the new CFSD school buses are equipped with video cameras to

assist us in determining infractions on the bus and who is involved. Students who do not conduct themselvesproperly may be denied the privilege of riding on district school buses.

    Expectations at the Bus Stop

Arrive on time at the bus stop.Stand a safe distance back from the curb and line up single file, facing the street, when the bus approaches.Do not more toward the bus or attempt to enter the bus until it has come to a complete stop.Always be in sight of the driver.

Always use steps and handrails, and never crowd or push when getting on or off the bus.Follow the drivers instructions at all times.Treat fellow passengers with respect.Report any improper conduct to the bus driver who will inform the principal of the misconduct.

    Notification of Pest Control

State Law (House Bill 2135, Chapter 102) requires the school district to notifyparents, legal guardians, and employees 48 hours prior to pest/weed controltreatments.

In accordance with these requirements, Essential Pest, vendor for pesticide

treatment, will visit our school once month to inspect building exteriors, kitchenareas, and restrooms, and to perform pest control treatments of those areas, asrequired. Our current pest control program does not include pesticideapplications inside classrooms. Such applications are performed only if infestationoccurs. Essential Pest will treat Canyon View on the third Tuesday of each month.

Additional information may be obtained from the Environmental Health and SafetyOffice at the district office at 299-6446.
