2016 GALAAUCTION & DINNER

Our Community | Our Home | 3 2016 Canyon Heights Academy Gala Auction & Dinner

Dear Parents and Friends:

It is a pleasure to welcome you to the Canyon Heights Academy Annual Gala Auction and Dinner: Our Community | Our Home. Thank you for making this evening possible.

Tonight is a special opportunity to come together, break bread and celebrate our collective strength through the last fifteen years. We must continue to build on this success: there is still much to do and many young people to help form into leaders who will have a positive impact on our world.

We are successful because of the collective efforts of our families and friends, our staff, and our students. The last fifteen years has been built on loyalty and trust — loyalty to our mission and the trust all of you have in our staff as well as the trust we share in our faith.

Your support is essential to our fundraising for this school year. Thank you to each of you for supporting our event this evening and to our Board of Directors for their leadership as we strive for “Semper Altius” in all we do. Thank you also to the many companies and individuals who have generously donated unique and outstanding items to our silent and live auctions and sponsored our event.

And a very special thank you to Mrs. Cathy Colgan Soriano, our chairperson for tonight’s beautiful event. Beginning last summer, Cathy’s leadership and diligence to create a successful evening is evident in each detail. And we greatly appreciate her efforts! Thank you as well to the many volunteers who have given their time, talents, and treasure to ensure everything is just as it should be to make sure you feel part of Our Community | Our Home.

Have a wonderful time tonight knowing that it is because of your generosity that we will continue to build Canyon Heights Academy to be the very best it can be and to give a CHA education to as many students as possible.

May God bless each of you abundantly,

Margaret A. Richardson, Ed.D. Head of School

3016 San Francisco Giants Then and Now

“The Freak” and “The Say Hey Kid.” Two colorful names for two of the San Francisco Giants’ more colorful players! Less than half of all teams have won the World Series three or more times and 12 major league teams have appeared in less than three World Series in their entire franchise history. The last National League team to do so finished the feat just after the end of World War II. Tim Lincecum helped the Giants win three in just five years as a starter and as a reliever. Willie Mays only won a single World Series but he played in 24 All Star games. He’s also the only player to hit a home run in each of the 1st through 16th innings during his career. Take home a baseball signed by Lincecum, a framed and matted photo of the ace, and DVDs of each of his no- hitters. In addition you’ll also win a Willie Mays signed lithograph. If you haven’t won YOUR 3rd auction item, there’s no time like the present!

3017 Robrek Run Rig Shiraz

If you don't like BIG reds, you can stop reading. The RunRig from Torbreck is a beast of a Shiraz, famously huge and exotic! And really, how many wines do you have in your cellar that approach perfection? Wine Advocate gave this 99 points, and gushed, "The estate’s flagship cuvee is the virtually perfect 2003 Run Rig. The sensational, inky, purple-tinged 2003 exhibits a stunningly sweet nose of blackberries, blueberries, litchi nuts, smoked meats, and a hint of apricots. Elegant yet super-powerful, rich, concentrated, and long, it is a tour de force in winemaking as well as a modern classic example of Barossa Shiraz." I guess that means it tastes really good, eh? Bid high and find out for yourself!

3024 "The Catch"

When you think of the 49ers of the 1980s, three names immediately come to mind: Bill Walsh, Jerry Rice and Joe Montana. The 49ers became a dominant force in the NFL for most of the 80s and into the early 90s. But there’s another name that belongs among those greats. Because without Dwight Clark, the 49ers dynasty may never have gotten its start! The date that began the dynasty is January 10, 1982 with the 49ers victory over the Dallas Cowboys, propelling the team to the Super Bowl. And it all happened because Dwight Clark leapt impossibly high and plucked a pass from Montana out of the air. That play, known far and wide as “The Catch” is still talked about to this day. Commemorate that moment with this amazing Super Bowl 50 football which has a drawing of the famous play and Dwight Clark's autograph. Don’t let this pass through your fingers!
