Please ensure you send your children to school in appropriate clothing for the cold – including pants, school jumpers and jackets! This cold weather seems to have had a healthy impact on the playground – as we have had a largely peaceful and happy playground of late. Dear families

I hope that everyone is rugged up against the cold this week. Please ensure you send your children to school in appropriate clothing for the cold – including pants, school jumpers and jackets! This cold weather seems to have had a healthy impact on the playground – as we have had a largely peaceful and happy playground of late. I believe the message our values promote; Respect, Responsibility and Care and Co-operation – are encouraging students to sort out minor playground disputes in a sensible way. all students and staff to accommodate any changes that such occurrences necessitate within our school. We are extremely fortunate to have a pool of excellent casual teachers to call upon that make the continuation of student learning near seamless. The reality is that our school has a very dynamic environment where each day changes may occur. We try our very best to keep any changes to a minimum and where possible fully inform everyone in advance.

Student AttendanceStaff, supported by our Attendance Team, work hard to support students and their families who at times struggle with attendance. Please remember that not only is getting to school on time – the day starts at 9.15am with a morning assembly, that the school day finishes at 3pm for those that live close and 3.10pm for those on the bus. There has been an increase in the number of families wanting to pick up their children before 3.00pm. This is extremely disruptive to the afternoon learning session and should only happen if there is an urgent appointment that your child may need to attend. Any student leaving the school before 3.00pm is required to be signed out via the office. I would ask for your cooperation in supporting your child’s learning.

New StaffWe welcome to the staff Miss Shireen Mato who has been employed as an SLSO to support our new ESL students from Iraq and our staff. Shireen herself came out to Australia from Iraq 3 years ago, and as such, knows the many challenges our students face in learning English. Shireen will work with students both in the classroom and during withdrawal sessions and also support the school as a translator with the students’ families.

Have a great week.Matthew Gray

The SRC would like to thank students and staff for their contributions to our Mufi Day last Friday. Due to your generosity, we were able to donate $150.80 to the ‘Adopt a Farmer’ initiative, which supports our farmers who are struggling due to drought.

Snowy Classroom NewsThis term we have been reading books by Pamela Allen. We have enjoyed being creative in our weekly craft sessions based on our book of the week. We love exploring percussion instruments and the different sounds they make. We can keep a beat and make loud and soft noises with our instruments. In Mathematics, we have experimented with copying and making our own colour patterns.
