CANOVAS - PARIS DECO OFF 2015 >>>>>>>> Alice Pilastre Alice Pilastre’s work is all about textile tradition, and unravels, via sculptural work, a whole new aspect. Through a fine dialogue between conscious and unconscious memories, using repetitive gesture and patterns, she questions the technique and explores its poetry. Every fabric is a trace, a passage, a transmission in which our relation to intimacy is revealed by our sense of touch, of sight, a perfume, or a sound… Whether we use it to cover, to wrap, to decorate or divide, each fragment, each thread, each stitch, tells its own story. The spaces we live in and leave, the people who occupy(ied) these spaces, and the impressions superpose and confront each other, meet or argue. The project "Ritournelles/résonnant textiles” where the encoding of a graphic design initially destined to the weaving mill is transposed as a musical score, is emblematic of the artist’s work. In these previous creations exploring textile musicality, Alice has to decompose, unthread, reassemble and fix, in order to better understand the fabrics and try to make sense of them in her own personal and poetic way. For the Paris Deco Off Fair 2015 , Alice Pilastre is actually working on a composition to tell a new story with the original Canovas Collection, through an insolite color meeting. Cutting & re-weaving stripes of the gorgeous traditional patterns she’ll make a unique contemporary tapestry for the CANOVAS & LARSEN’s shop window. CANOVAS - PARIS DECO OFF 2015

>>>>>>>> Alice Pilastre

Alice Pilastre’s work is all about textile tradition, and unravels, via sculptural work, a whole new aspect.
