Innovation through generations.

The Canon Group is now one of the world’s most admired, successful and trusted companies. Within it, Canon Europe is the group’s largest sales and marketing region, selling to over 110 countries in Europe, Middle East & Africa.

From one camera, our product portfolio has become a diverse range of image-based solutions from professional and personal cameras, broadcast equipment, projectors, scanners, printers, binoculars and calculators, to complex document management software, multi-functional print production devices and cutting edge medical equipment - all supported by a range of consultative and value added services.

Today, we are as passionate as ever about helping customers to realise their own passion for the power of image. Yet through business evolution and technological revolution, the principles on which the fledging company was founded have remained the same.

Kyosei – our guiding philosophy

Translated as ‘Living and working together for the common good’, Kyosei is our approach that applies to everything we do. It underpins our business practice, ethics, management philosophy and corporate culture. It governs the way we treat and respect the environment through more efficient design, energy saving, effective recycling and sustainable thinking. It also gives everyone inside and outside Canon a common purpose to relate to, over and above business targets, financial goals and new products.

San-Ji Spirit – our inner strength

Developed as a code of conduct and set of values for all our employees, the San-Ji Spirit is based on Self Motivation, Self Management and Self Awareness – the ‘Three Selfs’ – that enable us to control our destiny and live up to our responsibilities and reputation.

At the heart of progress.

Five Image engines

Image Capture

Canon’s image capture technologies achieve high resolution and high image quality for lens, sensor and image processing technologies.

Ink Jet Printing

Ink Jet technology is capable of delivering microscopic ink droplets as small as 1 picolitre (one-trillionth of a litre), making possible even DNA chip fabrication.

Photolithography

Canon’s semiconductor exposure technology represents the integration of the ultimate optical and ultraprecision positioning technologies.

Display

Next-generation flat-screen display technology delivers large-screen, high-quality image with low power consumption.

Electrophotography

Electrophotography technology serves as the heart of laser beam printers and multifunctional devices that have been rated as the best quality in the world.

At the centre of this are Canon’s five key image engine technologies, creating a common language thread through our imaging hardware, software and support:

Canon’s goal of leading the world in imaging depends on our continued development, innovation and acquisition in the field of imaging technology.

In today’s converged, digital world it’s now possible to blend and integrate technologies across product ranges – such as cameras and business machines – which were once totally separate categories.

To enable Canon to make the most of these possibilities and to guide our future innovation, we have developed a Cross Media Imaging strategy. Cross Media Imaging is aimed at ensuring seamless integration between technologies throughout the image lifecycle.

This strategy has already enabled us to enhance input and output devices, improve their underlying functions such as image processing and colour management and make significant advances in user-interfaces, transmission, networking, image recognition and image search.

Did you know?Canon invests more than 8% of sales in R&D worldwide annually. Canon has been in the top 5 global companies for registering patents for 19 consecutive years.

Giving professionals focus.

Totally integrated EOS photography

Canon’s award winning EOS system of interchangeable precision-engineered cameras, lenses and accessories is tried and trusted by millions of professional photographers throughout the world. Canon’s celebrated EF lenses have remained cutting edge through their 60 model evolution and the 60 million unit production milestone achieved in 2011.

The advanced imaging technology within the EOS System is enabling professional photographers to create stunning new images and video content beyond the traditional limits of digital cameras.

Superior filming and broadcasting

In the world of moving images, our video camera innovation reached new heights with our entry into the film and TV production industry with the launch of the Cinema EOS System. The Cinema EOS System spans the lens, digital video camcorder and digital SLR camera product categories and provides cinematographers with a range of unprecedented creative possibilities.

In broadcasting, Canon’s leading TV production camera lenses and tools have led the market for bringing quality viewing to audiences worldwide from the early days of black and white to the complex 3D productions heralding a new dimension in entertainment.

Canon’s imaging technology continues to help photographers and professional image makers follow their visions from imagination and composition to capture and print. At the heart of it is Canon’s cutting edge lens technology but emphasis is also placed on key areas such as image quality, workflow and enhanced performance.

Perfecting image output

In print, our breakthrough photo-quality PIXMA range uses bespoke inks and FINE inkjet nozzle technology to do every photograph justice.

In photo production printing, the Canon Dream Labo offers the market an exciting, new high quality alternative to silver halide technology.

For projecting images at their best, our XEED projectors with LCOS (next generation LCD) and AISYS imaging for vivid images and pure blacks have quickly become the audiovisual professionals’ choice.

In security and surveillance, our advanced Network Cameras bring a new level of clarity and practicality to visual intelligence.

A sharp focus on lenses

We are constantly looking to help people ‘take stories’ through our development of clearer, smaller and sharper optics. The lenses in our digital compact cameras share much of the technology, design and quality control that go into our flagship cameras and broadcast equipment used by professionals.

In addition, we are also constantly striving to improve results for photo enthusiasts by taking effects like noise, blur and shake out of the equation.

Fulfilling personal visions.

The fine detail of processing

Supporting everyone’s desire to point the camera and capture the scene, is Canon’s way of making it look as intended. Canon’s DIGIC image processor converts light entering the camera more quickly and efficiently than other technologies, enabling users to see exactly what they saw when they took the shot.

This works in tandem with Canon’s unique HS System that enables users to capture significant highlights even in low light conditions. Canon has taken the best of image quality at work and brought it home.

Printing as it should be

The perfect printer reproduces life in colour. That’s why Canon’s PIXMA range is the new benchmark of excellence in photo print. Using Canon’s FINE photo quality ink technology and an engine tailor-made for Canon inks, the PIXMA

marks the new, wireless way to print pristine visual memories and refreshingly clear pages from websites. So everyone can output their images, moments and memories as they were originally intended.

From capturing personal moments and reliving events to instantly sharing videos and printing stills from HD movies, Canon helps everyone create and connect through images at home and at leisure – from input of the first image to output of the final result.

Our customers’ expectations are rising and placing increased demands on our ability to bring innovative thinking and robust execution capabilities. In response, Canon has formed a team with a wide range of business diagnosis and solution design skills and imaging expertise, and a pan-European delivery capability.

Our customers are tapping into this team’s expertise to “digitise” their operating model, to achieve their business efficiency and operational cost-effectiveness, to drive differentiation in their own customer experience, and to transform their marketing operations. The team is composed of resources from each part of Canon, is built on the foundation of a collaboration with Accenture, one of the industry leaders, and brings together Canon’s wider ecosystem.

The value of Managed Print Services

Organisations can spend up to 3% of annual revenue on print at a time when effectively managed print services could save them up to 50% of this expenditure. Canon Managed Print Services enable companies to outsource their print operations, make significant savings and work more efficiently and sustainably. Because printing is our core business, we know how to combine people, processes and print technology in the right way to enhance document efficiencies.

Our commitment to services. For European organisations today, the management of information, imaging and media assets requires far more than help with procurement, installation, training and maintenance. Whilst remaining unrivalled in these key areas, Canon provides new dimensions to its customers such as outsourced print, strategic business consultancy and eServices.

Making healthcare better.Canon’s 70 year heritage in medical imaging enables us to use this experience to continually improve medical equipment and treatment. Our innovations in Digital Radiography and Eye Care Systems have improved the speed and accuracy of diagnosis, leading to benefits for patients and healthcare professionals.

A long standing medical history

70 years ago, Canon launched its first indirect X-ray camera which became indispensable in the early detection of tuberculosis. In 1976, Canon introduced the world’s first Non Mydriatic retinal camera and continues to set high technological and image capturing standards.

World leading Eye Care technology

Unique EOS digital camera technology has been specially adapted for ophthalmic photography. Allowing easy operation, comfortable examination and precise detection of lifestyle related retinal conditions.

Our vision of leading the way in eye care has been strengthened by our acquisition in 2010 of Polish company OPTOPOL, a leader in Optical Coherence Tomography for early detection of retinal diseases. This combination of imaging innovation and medical industry experience promises to advance ophthalmic diagnostic equipment.

Pioneering Digital Radiography

Canon’s Digital Radiography (DR) System has transformed the way hospitals, radiologists and X-ray technicians operate. Our development of film-free imaging enabled more detailed images, faster diagnosis and faster treatment in critical cases. Thanks to our portable DR system, radiography was no longer restricted to one hospital department but possible in multiple and outside locations, such as intensive care units.
