What I can’t do without this month1 Serving tasty chocolate soufflés in these gorgeous Le Creuset heart shaped dishes, £5.50 from department stores nationwide –perfect for a Valentine’s Day dinner2 Adding a touch of romance to my table setting with this heart of roses candle, £4.99 from Sainsbury’s 3 Indulging myself with these cocoa butter bath treats, £9.99 from www.bombcosmetics.co.uk

And welcome to Candis! Yes it may be chilly outside but we’ve got an issue to warm the cockles of your heart with themes of happiness, love, generosity and a commitment to help others. I am fascinated at how couples

manage to stay together despite rising divorce rates, which is why I asked writer Leah Hardy to look into the whole concept of love today (Modern romance, pg 20). Continuing the feel-good theme, I found myself inspired by the courage of WWII pilot Freydis Sharland (pg 34) and the genuine generosity of the lottery winners Ray and Barbara Wragg (pg 28), who’ve helped spread their good fortune with others. Finally, don’t forget to get in touch about anything you read in Candis – I really do value your comments.
