50th HERITAGE CLASSIC

August 23 - 25, 2019

The Annual Heritage Classic event organized by the Canadian Classic MG Club and the Canadian XK

Jaguar Register is the premier Club event of the year. This year will be no exception as the Club cel-

ebrates the 50th Anniversary. This year’s event will be returning to its original location in the South

Surrey/White Rock area which is a few minutes north of the US border, and approximately 45

minutes drive from the center of Vancouver.

• Friday, August 23rd - Noggin 'n Natter. This event kicks off the 50th Heritage Classic weekend. It will be held in the grounds of the Hazelmere RV Park, 8th Avenue, in South

Surrey.

• Saturday August 24th - Heritage Classic Car Show. The car show will also be held at

the Hazelmere RV Park, on a beautiful grassy, terraced area with plenty of shade. The event is limited to MGs and Jaguars, and British motorcyles. There will be a JCNA sanc-tioned event, and JCNA and other awards will be presented on the field. Expect to see a

silent auction, British teas, veggie races, and other activities.

• Saturday, August 24th - The Heritage Banquet will be held in the Garden Room at the

Hazelmere Golf Club, 8th Avenue, South Surrey.

• Sunday, August 25th - Brunch. The closing event of the Heritage 50th Classic weekend will be an informal drive to the Abbotsford Flying Club for brunch.

The host hotel for out-of-town guests is the Ocean Promenade Hotel, Marine Drive, White Rock. A number or rooms have been reserved for our event. A Deluxe Standard Room with 2 Queen

beds is available at a cost of $149/night plus taxes; and a Deluxe King Room is available at a cost of $169/night plus taxes. All rates quoted are in Canadian dollars. To book a room, call the hotel on 604.542.0102 and quote Jag/MG Club.

Camping (tents only) will be available free of charge at the car show site. You are welcome to come to the event in your RV. However, you will be required to purchase a hook-up spot at Ha-zelmere RV Park for the duration of the weekend. Contact Hazelemere RV Park to book a spot

phone 604.538.1167.

Article written for UK Practical Classics Magazine

March - April edition

Practical Classics have a ‘Clubs and Events’ section so this being a banner year for Jaguar MG I sent them some information about us, far away in Vancouver BC.

After a several emails and requests for more photos, the coverage was much less than I had hoped for and of course somewhat inac-curate! The magazine reports a general decline in car club attend-ance in Britain and the lack of youth in the ranks. I wrote about our healthy membership, activities, our youth efforts at Heritage and with Hagerty and the club’s longevity. Well at least we got a bit of recognition in what has become the most successful collector car magazine in the UK. Their yearly Classic Car and Restoration Show held each March at the NEC Birmingham now rivals the old “Motor Show” that used to be held in Earls Court London. The show fea-tures all aspects of collecting, not just trailer queens with a live build going on stage over the course of the 3 days.

Show details: https://www.necrestorationshow.com/

Dog tags will be provided and food will be served in mess tins in the evening.

More info in future LCG and at club meeting in June.

ABFM Please join us at the Van Dusen ABFM to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Club.

There will be a birthday cake at both the Jaguar and the MG areas on the field, and you

can join us for a slice of cake around 2.30pm.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

for our Club tents at the ABFM, VanDusen Gardens.

We are making it known at the ABFM that the CCMGC and CXKJR are celebrating their 50th year of membership. The show organizers have been great and are supporting us by providing three tents, one for CXKJR, one for CCMGC and a larger tent to celebrate our accomplishment. We'll be able to show off our club and potentially entice new members to join the fun. We could use some member's help to promote our club at one of these tents.

If you can spare an hour or more attending one of our displays at the May 16th All British Field Meet could you sign-up to help at the May 14th Members Meeting at Robson Park, or send me a note at [email protected]. If you are not certain of your availability before hand you can come by our tents on the 16th and find a time to help out.

CLASSICAL GAS MAGAZINES

Do you have old issues of Classical Gas Magazine that you don’t want? If so, could you bring them to the next Club meeting so we can distribute them at the ABFM, or bring them to the ABFM.

PARKING VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Following tradition, Adam Langelier is looking for volunteers to park and un-park cars at the ABFM.

Please contact Adam at [email protected]

The car show will be held at Legends Field on the Saturday with cars arranged in “picnic circles”, and the best-in-show deter-mined by 'vote with your donation tickets'. We raised over $1000 for local youth programmes at Edgewater Elementary School in this way in 2018, and they will once again be the beneficiaries in 2019. The Saturday car show is supported by informal motel parking lot "tire kickers", a Friday evening social gathering, Saturday evening wind up meal, informal pie runs and another Morris Calvert Memorial Rally (poker run).

Our host hotel properties will have blocked rooms for our guests. Reservations will only be accepted once your entry for the event is confirmed, so please do not contact the hotels until you have a confirmation number to give them.

While principally attended by British sports cars, we welcome British vehicles of all types. MGs and Triumphs are common to the show, but we have seen Mini, Healey, Riley, Rover, Land Rover, Range Rover, Rolls Royce, Jaguar, Daimler, TVR, Lotus, Caterham and Jensen Healey. There's a lot of notable 60ths this year, but we're glad to have any owners celebrate their car's anniversary with us!

Idaho British Car Club

Summer Tour 2019 “Discover the Palouse”

Here it is just February and you have this guy telling you it is TIME! That’s right, it is time to start thinking about the 2019 driving season and, more importantly, deciding what you need to do to get your LBC(s) ready.

As in the past, 2019 will offer you plenty of op-portunities to get out and DRIVE. But we are

here to talk about the IBCC Summer Tour for 2019, June 27-30, located in Moscow, ID. We have christened this tour, “Discover the Pa-louse.” which describes our intent for you to fully enjoy this beautiful part of Idaho and

Washington. The drive to Moscow will in itself be delightful regardless of your starting point, but we have more to offer once you get there!

The host hotel is the Best Western University Inn, and we are very excited to be working with them. They have given us a block of 100 rooms, of which 46 have already been reserved. I suggest

that you make your reservation as soon as possible. The hotel will also host our Thursday (6/27) evening reception, as well as Saturday evening’s awards banquet https://www.idahobritishcars.org/moscow-rooms/

We have arranged several Friday (6/28) activities for you to participate in if you so desire, these being a wine tour, a dig for star garnets and a Palouse drive. Or you can explore the area on your

own. https://www.idahobritishcars.org/event_listings/st2019/

We are excited to have the Saturday (6/29) show in downtown Moscow, where we have been giv-en 2-1/2 blocks to display our cars for all to see. We should have a large crowd, as the Farmers Market will be just down the street from us. There are also numerous stores and restaurants for you to visit.

In addition to being able to visit a new town (a first time for Summer Tour!), we are so happy to have you joining us on this tour which will surely be unique. In this newsletter, you will find arti-cles with complete tour information, the registration form and how to sign up for the wine tour.

Here are some additional links to help you plan your trip to Moscow.
