*Commissions or Warrants, as the case may be, are issued to officers on promotionto the ranks indicated, and also to commissioned officers from warrant rank on pro­motion to Lieutenant's rank.

All Executiye Officers of the same denomination shall rank and command accord·ing to the Order in which their names stand in the official list of the officers of theRoyal Navy, or, when not inserted in the list, according to the dates of their firstcommissions, warrants or orders in their existing rank. If only acting in the rankthey shall rank and command after officers holding the corresponding confirmed rank.

and in relation to each other shall rank and command according to the order inwhich their names stand in the official list of the officers of the Royal Navy, unlessthe Admiralty may otherwise direct. Officers, other than Executive Officers,shall rank with each other and with Executive officers according to rank and sen­iority. Officers of the Royal Canadian Navy, Royal Australian Navy and the NewZealand Division shall rank and command with officers of the Royal Navy accord­ing to their rank and seniority in the Dominion Naval Forces.

Relative Rank of the Officers of the Navy, Army and Air Force.

Officers of the Royal Canadian Navy shall take relative rank with each other,rank for rank, according to seniority; or in the case of Commodores, date of appoint­ment. Their relative ranle with officers of the Army and Air Force, shall be as laiddown in the following table and shall take effect in the same manner, according toseniority or date of appointment.
