    DSP was organized by Department ofElectronics & Communication, CIT, Gubbiin association with itie knowledgesolutions, Bangalore in CIT Campus fromJuly 15th to 27th, 2013. The FDP wasinaugurated on 15th July 2013 byDr. P Nagabushan, Professor in ComputerScience & Engineering, University ofMysore. Program was presided over bySri G.B. Jyothi Ganesh, Secretary& MD, CIT Group and Dr. D. S. Suresh,

    Director, CIT.

    On the first day of the programmeseries Dr.P.Nagabhushan gave anoverview of signal processing in digitalimage processing. On the subsequentdays Mr. Sanjeev Kubakaddi, CEO, itieknowledge solutions, Bangalore discussedabout digital signal processing &MATLAB. In the second weekMr. Dayananda. K. S, Senior Architect,NXP Semiconductors, Bangalore gave abroad overview about video processing

    and its applications in real time.

    Addressing the gatheringDR Mantha pointed out transformationsin the Technical Education and briefedthe steps taken by AICTE in increasingGross Enrolment Ratio (GER). He alsohighlighted quality and quantity issuesrelated to technical manpower in India.He said AICTE is planning to give impetusto vocational education and training toaddress this supply issue. He appreciatedthe role played by private technical

    institutes like CIT in fostering technicaleducation in India and thereby

    contributing to Gross Enrolment Ratio.

    The Department of Information Science and Engineering,

    CIT, Gubbi organized 2days workshop on Robotics on 21st&

    22nd September 2013. Around 180 students from

    various colleges participated in this workshop. In this

    workshop students were taught to construct three different types

    of wired Robots which were capable of doing 3 different things &

    the same were used for various competitions like ROBO-SOCCER,

    ROBO-ACCELERATION & ROBO-SCUBA which were held in CIT

    Campus on 28th September 2013. The winners and runners

    under above mentioned three different categories received prizes.

    This workshop was organized under the supervision of

    Dr. Suresh.D.S, Director, CIT & with the guidance of

    Prof. Shanthala.C.P, Vice principal, CIT, Gubbi & Mr. Nagaraja. P,

    HOD, Dept., of ISE. The program was successfully coordinated by

    Electricity Consumer Awareness ProgramElectricity Consumer Awareness ProgramElectricity Consumer Awareness Program

    Seminar on Consumer Protection & Empowerment,in Association with IIPA, New Dehli.

    This programme was sponsored bythe Department of Consumer Affairs,Government of India. The objectives of the

    Seminar were

    (i) To enhance the knowledge and skill inthe area of Consumer Protection and

    Consumer Welfare

    (ii) To elucidate the various provisions ofthe Consumer Protection Act and other

    legislations having a bearing onConsumer Protection

    (iii) To discuss the legal dimensions ofConsumer Protection in different service

    sectors.

    The programme was inauguratedby Shri. S Ramanathan, Chairman, IIPAKarnataka Regional Branch. The resourcepersons for the seminar included Shri. Y.G. Murlidharan, CREAT, Bangalore, ProfSuresh Misra, CCS, IIPA, New Delhi andDr. Mamta Pathania, CCS, IIPA, New

    Delhi.

    The seminar was well received byall the participants. A set of monograms /books covering consumer affairs weredistributed to all the participants.

    Department of MBA, CIT, Gubbi inassociation with Karnataka ElectricityGovernance Network [KEGN], Bangalore(a wing of CREAT, Bangalore) & BESCOM,Bangalore organized ElectricityConsumers Awareness Program on Dec2, 2013 at Vigneshwara Comforts,Tumkur. The basic objective of thisprogram was to make consumers aware oftheir rights & responsibilities in theelectricity sector. Besides, this event alsoaimed to focus on the electricityconsumers grievances and try to solve

    them to the extent possible.

D.S Director, CIT,Gubbi, Mr. Y.G Muralidharan, FounderTrustee of CREAT, Bangalore,Mr. Lakshman Reddy, Former TechnicalConsultant to Karnataka ElectricityRegulatory Commission (KERC)Mr.Nataraj, Executive Engineer, BESCOM,Tumkur & Mr.Sheshedri of Maruthi VidyaKendra, Tumkur were the guests for aboveevent. More than 100 consumers of diversecategories viz. NGOs, WomenOrganizations, Students, Teachers,Government Officials and General Public

    took part in this event.

    Speaking on the occasionDr. Suresh. D. S said consumers must be

    aware of important laws so that they canexercise their rights as need be. Dr. Sureshsaid lack of knowledge on the part ofconsumers will make them morevulnerable for exploitation. Awareness

    problems on top priority.

    Finally, some participants expressedproblems related to electric power supplyin their respective villages. Based on theseissues raised, Mr.Nataraj, EE, BESCOM,Tumkur said many of them would beresolved soon and some of them might takesome time. Accordingly, Mr.Nataraj

    (Quality Success!!!)CIT successfully underwent an externalcompliance audit on 28th& 29thApril 2014for re-certification their ISO 9001:2008certification which was obtained in 2011.

    German ISO certification body TUV-NORD performed the assessment to en-sure that CITs Quality Management Sys-tem (QMS) continues to meet all elementsof the stated scope and effectively main-tains entire requirements of the ISO9001:2008 International Standard.There were zero (0) nonconformance

    identified during the assessment. TheAudit was carried out by Mr. Mohan Khan-

    date, Senior Auditor from TUV-NORD,Hubli.The audit started with a formal opening

    meeting with principal, Deans, HODs, co-ordinators and other process owners on28th morning. During the day all depart-ments

    Teaching-Learning process and otherrelated process were audited. On thesecond day audit of supportingprocesses like Library, Examination,Transportation, Placements etc. wasdone.

    Mr. Mohan Khandate appreciated thedefined process, documents maintainedand implementation of QMS in all thedept. & accordingly recommended ISO9001:2008 certification extension tillthe year 2015-16.

    CIT- ISO 9001:2008 Compliance AuditCIT successfully underwent an externalcompliance audit on 28th& 29thApril 2014for re-certification their ISO 9001:2008 cer-tification which was obtained in 2011.

    German ISO certification body TUV-NORDperformed the assessment to ensure thatCITs Quality Management System (QMS)continues to meet all elements of the statedscope and effectively maintains entire re-quirements of the ISO 9001:2008 Interna-tional Standard.There were zero (0) nonconformance iden-

    tified during the assessment. TheAudit was carried out by Mr. Mohan Khan-
